RB is going to be a revolving door position for depth. Too many guys and not enough touches. Honestly, the rotation we had this year is close to ideal. 2 guys featured and a young guy sprinkled in with touches. Martinez leaves and moves to Fletcher, Lyle, and Pringle getting some touches like Lyle did. But you need to continuously add in a guy or two for depth( that will be used sparingly if at all). RB will be fine.

We still have Chris Wheatley Humphrey. Maybe they find another back in the portal. Just a tough position to keep solid depth at.
Exactly. Best case scenario he would’ve been competing for touches with Pringle.

And you have to factor in NIL too because I’m sure he’d want close to starter money.

To be honest, I wasn’t that impressed with him. You could see why they were playing Lyle ahead of him.

Johnson didn’t have great vision, went down easily, and couldn’t pass protect.

And he was terrible on kick returns. You can tell they were playing him there to get him touches so he could be happy but he couldn’t have been the best we got.

Definitely will get one or two in the portal at a lower level school looking for a bigger stage if there’s a blowout or injuries.

I’m going to be honest I don’t think scheme was that crazy of an issue. He had plays dialed up for him in the first 4 games. I saw zero feel for reading blocks or making anyone miss. I wish him luck at the next stop.

Forgot where it was @Rellyrell put out a really good analysis on Mario the recruiter vs mario the talent evaluator. It’s really going to be put to the test this upcoming season. My personal one to watch for the future is Wiley compared to nix and Alford.

I saw the same thing. They went out of their way to get him involved. I see the top end speed but you aren’t showcasing that on 90% of your touches. And I don’t know if he keeps that speed if he gains some weight.

I remember watching games with the wife and pointing out when he came in the game there was an 80% chance the play was designed for him.

If it was obvious to me, then I’m sure the other team knew. What it told me was he didn’t know the playbook and he couldn’t pass protect.

That was a huge liability that Lyle didn’t have.

I think he got a good one off against usf I think? After that it was painfully obvious when he was on the field it was going to him.

I think he can still find a good place to carve a nice niche out. dawsons offense didn’t really offer much for gadget plays which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

The only way to eliminating that is being more dimensional. Lyle shows that.

See how important pringle was? Wish we signed Louis too especially if there are defections.

A guy that would never thrive here under Mario and his system but could be elite somewhere else. Good career move for him
If im him im tapping into ole miss , smu, but a spread system with spacing.

CJ doewnt have much wiggle and our offense system like u said just cant find ways in the run game to utilize guys like him and breshard consistently.

We ran the play he scored on by going in motion n likely didnt run it 2 more times the rest of the year

I think we zhould go onto the portal and get a guy that maybe is cool wotb getting about 50-60 cqrries top this year. If Allen stays its 50/50 depending on spring if it will be needed

I don’t know why he keeps getting the B. Smith comp…. They aren’t alike. Don’t think he’ll have as much success as B. Smith had as we were right his better position was RB but he was hardheaded.
Because neither guy was used to their strengths . That’s the comparison. Both are perfect guys to play in space and used in gimmick situations yet they never were. Putting Brashard in the wildcat was them being creative lol. Johnson would go in motion and get a quick pass , that was his creative plays lol. Watch Percy at UF. Westbrook in Philly. Bush in New Orleans. There’s a million ways to get guys in space or 1 v 1 situations from the backfield but our coaches can’t do that. I said two years ago Brashard was a rb and people laughed or said he can’t pass block , now here we are. Dawson has yet to show he can handle speed or multi dimensional athletes from the backfield.

if I’m the coaches I recruit Ajay to stay . Use him on kickoff and sell him on more touches. That gives us five backs which is a must . Then you have Lofton as a power back option to use situationally. That should set the rotation up.

You’re on fire lately with great observations all over this place. 🔥

There is no comparison to those guys and CJ. Each of those guys made plays on returns and you saw their ability to make guys miss and agility/wiggle.

CJ isn't close to the same level as any of those guys.

I think you completely missed my points in this thread. Once again it’s about putting speed in space and some refuse to get that. Get him going downhill with momentum which showcases his strength. I’m not comparing the players but more the coordinators scheming to their abilities. YOU USE YOUR PLAYERS TO THEIR STRENGTHS. If not there’s no sense in playing them. I know some of yall will defend the staff to no end and they have no responsibility but they have failed with BS and CJ. Ajay being another one that’s been wasted.
