No lie there, but young people will always be very susceptible to lies and if Weigman shows any life the Jimbo QB whisperer talks will start again. This applies to us as well. If Dawson turns around this offense and Tyler becomes a day 1 or 2 pick, the narrative around Mario disappear and Herbert and TVD will be shoved down recruit’s throats to no end.
I think recruits / kids are much smarter than some think. I mean they all ran for the hills from Gattis / Miami .

Let’s not kid ourselves though , Petrino is very well respected as a qb / offensive guru. I mean all he has to do is play the video of Lamar talking him up as being a great coach and having a big part in his development.

If A&M ‘s O explodes this year kids are smart enough to know why that happened. And it’s not Jimbo suddenly getting his groove back.

That’s not even discussing the financial reasons. That said this receiver class depends on Dawsons O and preferably an upgrade at qb with recruiting.

maybe eventually. I happen to like him and think he's got potential. I just don't think the big time WR recruits have much of a read on him as "the guy"
Agreed. That's why the offensive production is critical this year to getting WRs to take the chance. You can't lay an egg AND have the not big name QB recruit and think that its all going to work out in the end just fine.

Is Hurley a big enough name if we can flip him?

Imo he’s not a needle mover with big time wr’s. The biggest needle mover is Dawson and this offense. Imo it’ll all take care of itself.
Been hearing nothing but positive reviews on Dawson, and this is from the same people who were skeptical of Gattis at same point last season - not sunshine pumpers.

Would you say this is what you’re hearing too? Mario might’ve got this one right.

Well you are infinitely more connected than I am but where I stand I see kids being sold wolf tickets left and right and then happily buying them more often than not. In terms of Gattis, yeah the outside WRs ran for the hills but all things considering we signed one of our better offensive classes since I’ve been following this. Even had our QB1 in the fold til that UF ****ery threw everything for a loop. Even WR, Ray Ray and Robby was way better than what we deserved.

I guess we'll see.

Every year with every coach we get, they're pumped up. Even when you question it, you're shouted down.

The last coach that was new to us and everyone uniformly disagreed with the hire was Richt's son. We all wanted a different offense and knew that wasn't coming with either of them.

Beyond that, it's roses and sunshine in the spring and by fall a few games in, it's been thorns and stormy weather. So again, I guess we'll see.

And if u don’t think Napier ain’t selling that chit, I got prime real estate in Antarctica just teeming w/ potential at the low price of $1m in any form of currency.
Any currency?

Shiiiiiiiiii I’ll take that. I’m wiring you a cool $1m Iranian Rial right now bro.

Maybe a big time team has a young guy take the reigns and scare off a committed recruit.

But usually the late decommits are from big time QBs not committed to big time schools. And then a major school comes calling.

Minchey was an example of that last year. He was committed to Pitt. And then late in the cycle flipped to ND.

Most QB recruits don’t make fall/winter lateral flips. They have their team, and stick it out
Agree.
But a lot of the things that used to be common are becoming less common.

I don't think any of those guys were 4/5*.

The majority of the 4/5* guys from South FL in the last 10 years never lived up to the hype
Reality is the majority of 4/5 stars in the entire country don’t live up to the hype lol it just so happens that sfla has a rich history of producing and a history of having elite high school football so when a player is considered a top guy here they will get a higher push with that in mind vs guys other places. Even tho this same **** happens everywhere but we are in miami so it's all we pay attention to

Bash the sites that make you all continuously buy into the star ratings of each kid leading u on to putting your imaginary expectations on them because u hope they can help better your feelings attached to your team

We'll get a quality QB at some point, either out of HS or through the portal.

And IMO, provided everyone stays healthy, Dawson can't help but generate points with the personnel he's been gifted. OL at or near top in ACC, I believe Chaney will be an all ACC RB, the potential at TE is off the charts, and our WR room looks legit now after adding the 2023 slots and the 2 portalers, even if there are no Day 1-2 guys.

I think the biggest question is timing. Many of the top WRs may be committed by the time we land a "name" at QB. So we'll either need to steal them back, focus on the few remaining uncommitteds, or be scrambling again in the portal. Doable, but harder.

@Cribby are you a Dawson fan? I have bought in to Guidry. Can't quite figure out Dawson yet. Anyone is better than last year's dumpster fire of an OC. But can Dawson be legit?
