Genuinely asking: did any of our other commits this year & last take visits after committing? Rashada or McClain? We know Mario wants people to shut it down once committed. I don't think that's a hard rule like Clemson.
We may or may not be in a position to dictate no visits but that is definitely true for WR & DB. I don't truly care until they sign so he can go & enjoy the process yada yada. Just hope at the end we end up with him & a couple other great receivers.

I guess the only way to fix the narrative would’ve been to make sure that the qb (Herbert that was drafted first round) would’ve been in a 100% Sonny Dykes offense. But then that would probably not have made his o lineman draft picks.

Recruit over him. South Florida WR/DBs are the biggest bunch of recruiting clowns on the planet.
There's a myth out there that we miss on all these South FL superstars when in reality Ridley and Jeudy are the only "misses" of 4/5* guys in the last 10 years and if AR15 stayed healthy he'd have been better than all of the so-called misses combined.

So while we fcked around and found out with Wiggins, Pope, and Harley, other schools got Zay, Schwartz, Hollywood Brown, Tutu, Moore,

Jimbo coached 3 first round quarterbacks at FSU and one while he was OC at LSU.
Napier coached Anthony Richardson last year
Gotta show we have the right OC and in a perfect world a backup (Emory) shows on the field we've got a future at the position.
Showing the offense can produce is one thing, but then you've gotta build the class as well. @AtlAtty having a QB that will be throwing to you in the future is important. Sure, things can change, but these are teenagers who don't think too far down the road. They join a class and see it working out when in reality, things will look far different in two to three years. In particular with the portal involved.

Harley is UM all time leader in receptions. He wasn’t a superstar but he was really productive.
Yeah I can’t disagree with anything you wrote. I was overreacting to some people’s overreactions of fear.
Every factor is a factor including who is in the recruiting class. I think that is a less important factor than many, but if there is a tie, any factor can be a tie breaker.

I don't think any of those guys were 4/5*.
The majority of the 4/5* guys from South FL in the last 10 years never lived up to the hype
I'd say a lot of it has to do with time and circumstance. Life is full of choices and coming here for many was a career killer. Same with a lot of the places they went. There is simply no way we've had as many bad evaluations as we've had on paper. Not when schools that produce at this level and for the next fought for the signature of the kids we landed.
I'm not saying all of them would've turned out, but when you're in a bad environment, you'll pick up bad habits. You won't work as hard when people are pointing in every direction to say that's the problem. When you have good leaders, the coaches, along with talent around you, you have to work harder and pick up good traits that make you successful.
Even some can't miss guys miss while those hyped up as much put in more work, had a chip on their shoulder, etc. Even when they went to a good place, some weren't mentally strong enough to work for it. There's so much that goes into making it and the biggest part, you won't see it on a tape.
I’m saying I agree with missing out on the superstars.
But we definitely also missed out on the rest.
So by not taking or missing out on Chance, we might not be missing out on a superstar, but we might miss out on a dude that can produce or maybe even make the league.

The question was “how many first round quarterbacks did they coach?” Not “how many guys did the turn into first round talent?”.
He was way more productive than Anthony Schwartz was in college.

Everyone gets so bent out of shape when a commit visits elsewhere and says positive things about it. Honestly, when have you ever seen a kid get back from a visit and say, “I absolutely hated it...awful...would never visit again in a million years?” They ALL say this crap coming off a visit.

So why does Mario have this narrative?
Jimbo hadn't had a first round QB since 2014. Napier coached Richardson for 1 season. Mario was co-OC for Hebert then HC for 2 years. Only reason this narrative exists because Dorky Duck fans thought they should throw it more but they had a great OL and 1000 yard backs while having basically no talent at WR. I think Herbert still left Oregon 6th all time in PAC 12 career passing TDs.
Jimbo was head coach for Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel at FSU as well is Jameis Winston.
