I’m gonna take my swing at what’s been going on here…. I, too, don’t think we’re broke.

What we do have though, is a head coach VERY aware of the ****** culture and destroyed locker room he walked into that we’ve all had the “joy” of watching for two decades now.

Sure, we need dudes…. But if those dudes aren’t playing as one unit, would it even matter? Likely not…

Mario had a ****storm to clean up… as he’s **** near done at this point with regards to our roster turnover and attitudes.

One way to **** it all up? Pay unproven (at the college level…after all, these are still high school kids) players who could walk into said locker room next year and fall flat, or come in with a holier than thou attitude, or a poor, lazy work ethic because they’re being paid. Paid more than current players on the roster who’ve actually bought in and bled/sweat on greentree.

I can’t imagine how I would have treated an incoming freshman being paid more than me on a squad I played on.. particularly if I thought I was better (these are kids, and that’ll likely be the thought process unless they are the rare unicorn like Mauigoa - few and far between). Thus… a destroyed, cancerous locker room.

Using that as my baseline…. I can’t wait to see the implosions at a school like fsu and certainly uf when their seasons don’t go like they think they will. If you aren’t going 11-1, 12-0 doing the **** they’re doing, the likely outcome is a downturn in culture. And we know how that looks/goes…

Maybe I read it wrong, but he’s using unproven to classify most high school recruits and used FSU as an example. Technically that’s true until they play a game in college. Every kid FSU has paid for or is willing to pay for is pretty **** good, let’s not just classify them as divas because they have Garnett and gold on their jerseys. Same with UF, or any other legitimate college football program. If you’re good at football (at this very moment), you’re getting money. That’s the way it always has been, and it’s certainly the way things operate now.

Of course there will be misses here and there, but that was just a long excuse for why we’re eval season and not paying high rated recruits….because of speculation about character and the locker room? These aren’t Manny’s guys anymore, that excuse is pa la Calle, it’s done. This is Year 2.

And his judgement will be about 2 yrs down the line…His poor hires, the 5-7 setting us back…Yes it's all on him. No excuses, fire him then if necessary. But I don't get bashing the process... they are just losing battles right now. You don't understand bashing an 80mil HC who's forte is recruiting, struggling to recruit blue-chips (for whatever reason or excuse) is valid? Someone who, should we miss on David Stone, consistently lost every single battle for a defensive line recruit except for Artavius Jones...a guy that no one should feel confident about sticking considering how quickly he became enamored with FSU once they started paying attention (pun intended), and really hasn't fully begun his recruiting process? A HC that's failed to solve our issues at the QB position and retained a questionable DB coach that's getting spanked like a naughty schoolgirl on the recruiting trail this cycle? Someone who's eons behind his two in-state rivals in recruiting at this stage of the game, especially a **** FSU recruiter in Norvell who's laughing at Miami right now and a serious threat to stroll in and snatch Patterson like it took no effort at all?

Enlighten me on where I'm being too harsh. I get it's early, but is there any reason for a modicum of optimism right now? Look at the threads from May/June and now. Is there anything trending in our direction or worth believing in? Where's the big splash? Looks like the meteorologists predicted the wave, but it ended up traveling too far north and landed in Gainesville and Tallahassee.

Do something worthwhile mentioning, and the tune can change considerably. But defending this...whatever is going on...is hilariously asinine, but routine for this fanbase. It's the same wheel of coping y'all fall victim to every single time.

For my part, I find it hard to second guess an elite recruiter like Mario. But I do think the additional bag/NIL money being thrown around by other programs -- and the way they are doing it (just to visit and verbal) -- is a big problem this cycle.

I liken it to how Dabo got outhustled because he was putting most of his budget into existing players on roster and wasn't as willing to pay upfront for the recruits. Dabo didn't forget how to recruit, but his Top 10 classes are now Top 20 classes, and from what I've read recently, it sounds like Clemson is becoming much more active recently with budgeting for recruits.

Point is, even the best have to change their approach when the market itself changes. And clearly this is happening right now in football for the Top 100+ players. I hope Mario is agile enough to incorporate the new reality quickly so as not to lose these targets.

Yes…To the levels it's being taken…I don't understand any of it. It's absolutely ridiculous the way some of you meltdown…Insane. And you are exaggerating. Lightfoot wasn't a win? Rudolph wasn't a win? And then look at the 2 year haul…Some nice DL wins last year.

Failed to solve our QB position? Way premature…TVD has a chance to be very good. What if Emory Williams keeps this trajectory?

I view things as areas of concern…Some of you view them as complete constant reason for meltdown. I'll never understand that behavior. And I see far more of that immature type meltdowns (count the pages) than I do level-headedness…So I would consider that the asinine routine for this fan base.

Reasons for optimism? Yes I see plenty…But just like the areas of concern, I'm cool with waiting there as well. He's different than what was here before him.
