Redshirting is a different animal today. Guys who are good are going to leave early. Project types need to be shirted as well as those with injury. Would like to see or hear more about Jenkins or Moten being a project or a player. IMO its premature to make these decisions, let the boys play and see what occurs.

By this time now and the season, I think he will be able to get down to 340 and that would be ok imo. When practices start, players will lose alot of water weight. Hopefully, we can just this big guy on the sprint line early and often.

yes, because it is so easy for guys 300 lbs+ to lose weight

It doesnt have to be difficult with a workout program, a nutrition program and trained professionals who watch and monitor your progress. If everyone had that kinda support, we all would walk around like tanks lol. So yes, IF the kid, is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to be effective, he will follow the plan they make for him.

This is exactly what people fail to realize. Football is a different animal today than it was 10 years ago. High school has caught up to college in regards to complexity of X's and O's as well as strength and conditioning. More and more kids come in ready to play as freshman.

Add to the fact that regardless if a kid is redshirted or not, first chance they get to go to the league they take it. No sense in red shifting if the player is able to give you reps either 5 plays a game at their position and/or special teams.

Redshirt's are reserved for players who are injured, or are behind the 8-ball from a physical standpoint.

Trent Harris has come a long way physically since his junior season. Chad gets the well deserved hype but Trent Harris was a monster pick up by this staff and should be a terror on the edge.

I dont think there is one single coach of a big time program in the country that recruits an elite level kid and does not tell him he will have every chance to play right away or even promise they will start no matter the depth chart. Any elite recruit that hears a different, although honest, answer that they will redshirt and develop them will go somewhere else guaranteed.

Yeah I think if we didn't sign Chad then he would receive alot more praise cause he is a beast and apparently did well this spring I'm jacked about the season yo can't wait!!!!!!

There seems to be a lot of expectations for Wyche who's yet to play a meaningful down in college. Hopefully he'll be able to contribute, but I'm going to hold my breath.

If that dude is 360, we are in great shape!

Saw him at the gym today with Muhammad. Funny thing is, he stepped on the scale by the medicine ball area. The scale stilled functioned after he got off, for those wondering. I didn't ask him what he weighed in at, but if ever there was a person who could be described as big boned, it's him. His ankle is probably bigger than Muhammad's calf.

If we had the depth of talent to redshirt talented defenders...maybe.

We don't have that depth at the moment. If Jenkins and Moten are good enough to play right away, then they need to play right away.

Yep, I'd like to see Jenkins and Moten both shirt. Pete has been saying some good stuff about both and I think we should let them actually develop rather than this BS we have been seeing.

It ****es me off that we burned the shirts of guys like Corn, Jamal Carter and Grace last year for nothing.

We need to allow these guys to develop.

Miami has the depth at this point. Why would Jenkins or Moten play?
At end you have a lot of guys who should be able to be functional 3-4 ends at this point: Chick, Pierre, Kamalu and Jelani. And you got Wyche, Hertelou and Moore at nose, so there is more than enough for a rotation. There is no reason for those two guys to see the field. I'm going to be really ****ed off if their shirts get burned. The staff has to develop the upperclassmen at those spots to a point where they aren't a dumpster tire on the field.

LB is a different story because there is nothing behind Perryman now since Blue is out, so in an emergency Young could be forced into action inside. Figatron thinking with his other head might be bad news for Owens redshirt cause Armbrister doesn't have the pass rush ability for 3-4 OLB and McCord cannot cover. So I could see Owens getting ****ed over and being thrown in. 3-4 SOLB is a problem area right now cause Figatron was probably the best all around fit.

Moten will be better than Moore, kid just not strong enough at point, in spring game he was getting ragged doll...other kid shirt him, tho.

Harris reminds me of Olivier Vernon, that same type of first step.

Courtel is an interesting kid. Showed up in great shape and wants to be the best. Hopefully the buzz is true and if it is, not likely he shirts. We just don't have the depth.

Very productive kid, too.
