While we are on DT, how does Jenkins look? Lol

That's a lean 300er.

Leave him at 360, first and second downs are his. Need that presence in there.

I am sure that there are exceptions, but generally speaking, anyone 350+ will not be a good football player.

All I care about is if he can push and shed and is he quick on that first step, don't care how much he ways be a beast dog that's all.

By this time now and the season, I think he will be able to get down to 340 and that would be ok imo. When practices start, players will lose alot of water weight. Hopefully, we can just this big guy on the sprint line early and often.

yes, because it is so easy for guys 300 lbs+ to lose weight

We need him to command double teams or Denzel will be useless in our defense. It's pivotal

I think Courtel could be a good one down the line, should redshirt this year.

Yep, I'd like to see Jenkins and Moten both shirt. Pete has been saying some good stuff about both and I think we should let them actually develop rather than this BS we have been seeing.

It ****es me off that we burned the shirts of guys like Corn, Jamal Carter and Grace last year for nothing.

We need to allow these guys to develop.

If we had the depth of talent to redshirt talented defenders...maybe.

We don't have that depth at the moment. If Jenkins and Moten are good enough to play right away, then they need to play right away.

Miami has the depth at this point. Why would Jenkins or Moten play?
At end you have a lot of guys who should be able to be functional 3-4 ends at this point: Chick, Pierre, Kamalu and Jelani. And you got Wyche, Hertelou and Moore at nose, so there is more than enough for a rotation. There is no reason for those two guys to see the field. I'm going to be really ****ed off if their shirts get burned. The staff has to develop the upperclassmen at those spots to a point where they aren't a dumpster tire on the field.

LB is a different story because there is nothing behind Perryman now since Blue is out, so in an emergency Young could be forced into action inside. Figatron thinking with his other head might be bad news for Owens redshirt cause Armbrister doesn't have the pass rush ability for 3-4 OLB and McCord cannot cover. So I could see Owens getting ****ed over and being thrown in. 3-4 SOLB is a problem area right now cause Figatron was probably the best all around fit.

I think Kirby would be able to slide inside. I'm pretty sure he played backup MLB last year didn't he? Well he could slide in, and Owens or Grace could start at OLB opposite Armbrister.

Depends on the front. Frankly, Grace has no place other than 4-3 WLB. In the 3-4, he is a terrible fit. 3-4 WILB is the best spot for him (where Kirby is now) however even there he is taking on the guard and at 210 he will get absolutely raped, even if they slant weak a lot. He might work in a 3-4 Under.

In the 4-3, the situation is ok at LB because you can move Kirby to Sam in order to accommodate Grace at Will. But then you reduce AQM and MCCord to situational pass rushers cause they will get destroyed in the run game at their sizes as 4-3 DE.

The Figatron thing really ****ed this front over.

DJ, you make some excellent points. The ***katron thing definitely had a domino effect on this front, specifically the 3-4 front. This is where the staff needs to get smart and creative(Yeah I know).

I'm not as versed in the Intricacies of defense and various fronts as some on this board, but does the fact that we run or want to run a hybrid defense help mitigate the loss of Figueroa? Asked another way, what can we do defensively front wise or generally speaking to lessen the impact of Figueroa's departure? If Darrion Owens is a prodigy then that saves us obviously. If not however, what would it behoove our illustrious coordinator to do schematically?
