Worse recruiting experience

Nothing will ever compare to Patrick Johnson. Nothing.

Oh yes there was. We all saw it coming with Johnson/Peterson long before signing day. Losing RB Antoine Smith from the muck in 2005 was the biggest recruiting dissapointment ever. He was an absolute 100% Cane lock one that nobody had concerns about. He even told his Mom and she told everyone he was going to Miami and with her crying in the background he chose the Noles on signing day. I remember a prominant poster on Grassy announcing that he was done with recruiting and that it was his last post. (He came back)

Thomas wouldn't even be top 5. Antone Smith, Matt Patchan, Patrick Johnson, Bryce Brown, William Campbell (Michigan), Sheldon Richardson (Missouri). These are all guys that were committed or told the staff they were coming then went elsewhere on NSD. Thomas never even lead on that Miami was near the top.

i havent heard about Richardson, care to elaborate?

Richardson's recruitment wasn't that bad...not even close to the guy's at the top of this list. Someone's over-exaggerating. He had us at the top with Mizzou, but he was from Missouri. He didn't have grades so he ended up in JUCO for a year or 2 and then transferred to Mizzou where he is now most likely going to be a 1st round NFL draft pick.

Losing Smith along with the blown game to North Carolina devastated with injuries and a lame duck coach spelled the end of Miami as a major power and the beginning of the end of the Coker era.

LOL so you're saying that losing a mediocre RB contributed to the downfall of the UM dynasty?!!? Puff puff pass big man...

I probably betrayed a ligitimate point by the imbellishment . I'll edit it out if I can

I think you have to look at the college careers and pro careers. Antone Smith didn't do much anywhere. We loaded up on the likes of CJones and TMoss...holy crap our RBs were bad back then...Robinson, Chambers, McNeal..we had a lot of misses

I agree. Your overall point definitely stands. It was a shock when he chose FSU.

Add Early Doucet to the list of LA kids

Josh Johnson was a Miami commit, then a MIA-FL battle, then signs with UGA

Deonte Thompson hurt

Antone / Preston Parker are still the ones I remember the most though

I think most knew on signing day that Thomas wasn't picking us. Same with PP/PJ. To me Collins was more of a surprise then those 2 and even that wasn't a shock.

Smith and Patchan are 2 that stick out the most, at least in recent memory.

I'm not gonna lie I never really keep up with are team since last year. I was a USC fan growing up and never care about recruiting until 2011.I feel that Matthew Thomas situation was like a stab in the heart.has there been a worse recruiting situation than last year?

Why did u stop following USC?

What hurt the most in order
1. Dwayne Bowe
2. Patrick Johnson
3. Matt Thomas

The bowe was especially big bc we were desperate for WRs around that time. Oh Brian Monroe - we barely knew thee!

Thanks James Coley for Dwayne Bowe. Without sending Bowe and Terrell Mcgill from norland to LSU consecutive years. He would have not become a grad assistant or the new offensive coordinator of our beloved school

Alex Collins just because of the exposure it had. National television, we were hearing he was coming here, he was rushing the court with Duke at the basketball game, his girlfriend is a diehard Cane, his mom wanted him here......and then his fat **** coach starts speaking on his behalf,....and finally ships him to Atlanta to announce his commitment to incest capital of the US.

Patrick Johnson(at the time) sucked, but that was Randy being Randy, the kid wanted to be here in the end

Matthew Thomas went where he should have, traitors deserve to live in Tallahassee

This

^^^ Exactly 1977. Antone Smith was a kick in the mouth. Guy was all Miami, a guy we really wanted and everyone was excited about, etc. Then, he puts on the Nole hat and his mom basically runs out of the room crying she's so upset. To this day that ****es me off. In hindsight, he really did nothing at FSU, but at the time, it sucked.
