His reason for flipping the pick.

While reporting last week from the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, I wrote I was close to flipping my 247Sports Crystal Ball to Georgia regarding five-star cornerback Tyson Campbell.

I did that Tuesday morning after making some more phone calls.

Campbell certainly gave off a Georgia vibe during interviews at the Army Bowl and then talking to folks behind the scenes in San Antonio the pulse seemed to be in favor of the Bulldogs.

A source on Monday said UGA has also impressed Campbell's father.

My Crystal Ball was on Miami, and I'm told the Hurricanes are expecting another shot to impress the local recruit from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage. However, I view Alabama as the bigger threat to Georgia as it stands right now.

Campbell is scheduled to official to Georgia this coming weekend and Alabama the following weekend. A decision could come at any time following those trips.

247Sports ranks Campbell as the nation's No. 3 cornerback. Following his performance at the Army Bowl, he could move to No. 1.

Also, I’ll be surprised if TC even goes through with his OV to Miami.

Honestly, I think we’ve got a better shot with PS2 at this point. Hoping that he has enough concerns about Orgeron at LSU to cause him to come to Miami.

If TC and PS2 both bail on Miami that's the biggest miss in recent years. Those two are every sense of the word "elite" and their former HC is on the staff as their position coach. Pretty sad actually.

I mean, he has a very good reason for changing his prediction. He had a conversation that probably went a little like this:

WILTFONG: Do you have an official visit to UGA set up?
TC: Yeah, I'm going on the 12th.

WILTFONG: Do you have an official visit to Alabama set up?
TC: Yeah, I'm going on the 19th.

WILTFONG: Do you have an official visit to Miami set up?
TC: We'll see. I mean, its like home, so...

Gotta follow the visits and the other offers as well. No matter what happens, can't be mad at the kid. He owes us nada.

Rattler never said that. He said that TC knows where he's going, but he wants to take his OVs just to be sure.

He's said, iirc that the UGA threat is indeed real.

One would have to ask, if UGA or Bama doesn’t have to ask who has that last visit then who does?

They’re reading the tea leaves, but it looks like a decent read because every time Tyson gets interviewed about visits he mentions definite visits to UGA and Alabaga, but nothing definite about UM.

This sounds right. I also don’t think Miami leads and if we do it isn’t by much. If Miami doesn’t get that last official visit then I expect us to be ****ed. If we do get that last visit we better close. He has to see that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence.

If the guy who coached you in little league and high school who happens to be a college national champion and former NFL first round pick and who currently has guys he's coached on NFL rosters after his first year of coaching this level isn't a draw for you to play at The U then I believe it's on the individual player not being interested. He wants to stay home but some how we're being told Athens is a greater draw at the moment I don't know why but if true then that's a real problem.
