Coming out of High School he was a 4* kid, but he still has yet to show signs of the disruptive DT we all imagined he would become. Now I am a very strong believer that defensive lineman should not be expected to contribute until their 3rd year in a college program. With this being Jalen's 3rd year here does he have what it takes to take the next step and contribute?
Jalen Grimble Career Stats
2011 Saw action in seven games 0 Tackles 0 Sacks
2012 Saw action in eight games 6 Tackles 0 Sacks
I think he is the classic case of a kid who needed a redshirt year but was forced into action out of necessity. From the little I have seen I just do not see the explosiveness or strength it takes from him to make a impact here. I pray that I am wrong, I would be beyond happy to see him become a fixture in the DT rotation for multiple reasons.
1. He will give Miami 5 DT's who have been in the program for 3 years
2. He will keep Moore and Ivey on the sideline (unless serious injuries happen)
