Will Jake Heaps Start At Miami?

Best scenario is Olsen gets his act togethes is the backup and Kaaya shirts.

Why is that the best case scenario? For Olsen, maybe. Best case for the rest of us for is a competent QB to be under center this year. Olsen will be the backup this year, as he expected to be before RW's injury, and Kayaa will shirt. Be glad Heaps is here.

Nice edit, read what I actually wrote. If Olsen is named the starter then the staff believes in him and he is performing where we think he should. Having a scrub come in and start isn't the best for the long-term of the program. I'd rather have Olsen start then Kaaya push him over the next 2-3 years and possible take the job.

Don't know how many drops KU had but my best friend is a KU grad and he told me they have the worst WR core in D1. Their WRs as a whole were less productive each of the past. . . two seasons than Hurns was by himself last year. 3 TD receptions by wideouts in two years.

Not just worst WR, but one of the worst O-lines in FBS (or whatever it's called now). The kid was constantly under pressure the moment the ball was snapped. While it's true he's pretty immobile, even a mobile QB would get mauled behind the Kansas line. Switching to a spread and mobile QB as they did this offseason is in part because they can't function at any sort of level as a pro set, pocket passing team. I don't think he'll necessarily turn into a superstar savior, but he's got the basic tools to be a very solid QB for us that doesn't go out and win games by himself, but does what needs to be done to let our playmakers win games.

I just don't know but his stats and that fact that he was beat out twice suggests otherwise. Plus, he has to get acclimated pretty quickly. I just hope the combination of him and Williams will suffice.

Stats are for baseball geeks. Heaps is talented, he will start this year, and I suspect he will thrive. A month ago, the sky was falling because Olsen didn't light it up during the spring game... now Golden is "desperate" and Heaps is a "loser." You guys are too much.

Golden could find a loophole to get Tom Brady as our QB next year and the mopers would still mope. "Hasn't won a super bowl in years". "Isn't anything without Moss", etc. Out of all the QB's available, Heaps was far and away the best on the waiver wire.

"Scrub"? You don't know what the F you're talking about. By your logic, the best case scenario is actually for Kayaa to come in and blow everyone away and stay for 4 years. Not happening. The staff obviously disagrees with your assessment, so now what? As a season-ticket holder, I'm glad Golden is trying to win this year. The offense was literally one QB away from being really good.

LMAO, the golden sunshine pumpers strike again. Yes, it is a good move by Golden. I've stated that several times. Heaps is a scrub in my book based on being beat out by younger QB's regardless of a system change. The funny thing about that is if he was doing so great as a pocket passer, do you think they would have changed the system??? Try and use some common sense.

The best thing for us is if Olsen takes the starting gig NOW not next year. NOW means he gets it and is running the O getting that valued starting experience. If he doesn't we go into next year with the same issue we have now.

Cant argue with alot of peoples criticism of Heaps and getting beat out of starting job at both schools regardless of reasoning but people change and there games evolve. Especially when were talking about and 18-20 year old kids. Zack Mettenberg looked completely pathetic and incapable 2 years ago but last year put things together for a big season before acl injury. Dont discount the impact an extra year, new system/coaches, or change of scenery can have on a young promising talented kid.

Stats have to be taken in context or they are meaningless. His stats don't show some very important points: 1) His WRs dropped many catchable balls, maybe more than any WR unit in college football; 2) His O-line had him running for his life or throwing the ball away on almost every passing down; 3) In a number of Kansas games they kept switching him and the other QB (who was a running QB) which prevents a QB from getting into a rhythm. Like I said, I'm not expecting a superstar, but he's got the tools to be a very productive QB when given the necessary support.

And his coach was Captain Front Butt.

He now has playmakers around him. He doesn't need to be a superstar; just competent.
