Will Jake Heaps Start At Miami?

He starts. Would not be surprised to see us use some rotating QB stuff. IF Heaps struggles, I could see them rotating RW back in, if RW is not ready to go, I could see them letting Olsen or Kaaya get reps.

As long as ONE of those guys is serviceable, I don't see Kaaya playing much, and very possibly Redshirting. Absolutely NO reason to burn a year of elibility unless he's really ready to take the helm. And I think people are kidding themselves that Kaaya will be ready to start as a true Frosh. Certainly not at the beginning of the season. He will have had just a few weeks of formal practice and only a few months in the program as a whole. Very FEW true Frosh can come in and start at QB and be successful. Unless the kid really shows some serious signs he's ready, AND everyone else just sucks, we aren't starting Kaaya. Certainly NOT against UL. At MOST, Kaaya would get eased into playing time as the season went on by splitting reps with the starter.

Heaps starts, Olsen learns, Kaaya shirts, Williams takes over for and after Neb.

.
9-3

That's the plan

Pretty clear it's what they want. Obviously an atrocious fall by Heaps and they would have to amend that plan, but even then I see the start falling into Olsen's lap rather than him rising up and grabbing it. I could be totally wrong though..

If Heaps starts through Neb, and has us 3-1, I'd be surprised if Williams gets the job back. I feel like people here are stipulating that Williams is a good QB just because he was our leading QB in Spring. He was better than Olson, who I've tabbed a probable bust for about 9 months now (you're entitled to your own internet opinion, but that's mine for a number of reasons), and IMO, was going to be about the 8th best starting QB in the ACC at best. Hardly what we need. Heaps has a higher ceiling if you ask me.

Of course he's going to start... The guy did not transfer if that wasn't the case... Kaaya is not ready, Williams is hurt and Olsen isn't ready... I'm not trying to be funny but this is this kids 3rd college... He's not coming to compete... He's coming for a guaranteed position... Not an insurance for 1 year...

i can hear Golden now:

Heaps is an amazing Talent
Smart Kid
Great Decision making
Strong Arm
He needs to work on getting a better rapport with the team and be a leader
former 5 star prospect
he has all the tools to start

he loves to boost players.

The move reeks of desperation but we are a desperate program. That being said, I always thought this kid had a Drew Breese streak in him. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he turns some heads, he's got weapons that's for sure.

Is any of that false though other than the strong arm? I mean, kid really has what we need, it's just a matter of if he can go out and get it done or not.

Get the playmakers the ball, take what's available and don't be careless. It's really not asking a whole lot.

They won nine games with a one legged snickers!

I think he surprises quite a few people and starts at Miami day 1. The kid has had horrible supporting cast to work with. I see a lot of similarities between Brock berlin and Heaps.

When he starts it won't be a surprise. And he is nothing like Berlin. Brock had a cannon and could win games flinging the ball all over the field.

This kid will be a field manager, that is all.

I'd love to have a QB with a similar year to Brock's senior season. He's the best QB we've had since Dorsey.

22 TD's 6 INT's and never lost to Florida or FSU. I'd take that from Heaps in a second.

Heaps was the starter before he got on the plane to Coral Gables! And I'm fine with that. If he craps the bed, put in Olsen as originally planned.

If he does that I'll wear my thong backwards for a month straight then eat it.

Whoa!

The fact that you have a thong is disturbing.

Heaps starts this year. Kaaya starts next year as Williams begins his first year as a grad assistant. Olsen starts....for Rutgers in 2017 after sitting out the 2016 season.

I thought he loved to throw players under the bus? Confused..
