Will Jake Heaps Start At Miami?

I hope he doesn't.

If Kaaya performs as well as some expect him to this summer and proves he's ready, then he should be the Day 1 starter. Let him get his growing pains out of the way early through experience. And then hope he's able to inject some much-needed life into the program as the season progresses.

Starting Heaps, if Kaaya or another young QB proves they're ready this summer, would be kicking the proverbial can down the road. Let one of the kids hand-picked and recruited by this staff play if they earn the opportunity.

I know the most popular guy in Miami history is always the QB recruit that's never been seen, but if Kaaya starts, we're ****ed. Peyton Manning and many others took a lot of lumps as true freshman starters and Kaaya isn't a guy who is fully polished and ready IMO. He didn't play much early in his HS career and needs reps and development. Forcing him in as a true freshman will hurt his development IMO.

I think he starts. The bigger question is with Heaps starting and possibly Williams come back sometime this season do we try and redshirt Kaaya?

i prefer Kaaya redshirt. Those stats for Heaps are crazy. 48 drops and 28 sacks. He also isn't the first all american hs qb to underperform with charlie weir

I think he surprises quite a few people and starts at Miami day 1. The kid has had horrible supporting cast to work with. I see a lot of similarities between Brock berlin and Heaps.

Who else wishes Olsen hung out with Carter, Dobard, Edwards, and Coley more?

And who would've said that a year ago lol

Heaps starts, Olsen learns, Kaaya shirts, Williams takes over for and after Neb.

.
9-3

I don't think it would be a foregone conclusion that Williams takes over as soon as he's ready to return.
If Heaps is 3-0 with the offense humming due to Heaps and he's putting up stats then Golden will have to stick with Heaps.
Now if Heaps struggles, yeah then I can see possibly going to Williams.

When he starts it won't be a surprise. And he is nothing like Berlin. Brock had a cannon and could win games flinging the ball all over the field.

This kid will be a field manager, that is all.

Book it. Barring another injury, Heaps will start and Kayaa will red shirt. A good field manager, like Dorsey, would do wonders for this team. Let's hope Heaps is it- and that he is nothing like Berlin. While Berlin had a cannon, his decision-making was frequently poor.

if heaps starts and starts off fast and hot, i don't think they'd pull him for williams. would love to see kaaya redshirt and let kaaya and humbled olsen battle it out next year.
