Why Waiting for Blue Chips is a Dangerous Game

I wonder if people would be unhappy if we missed most of the 5*, and this is the floor of the recruiting class. Especially knowing that a few of the 3* maybe 4* by the end of the recruitment cycle.

There are nowhere near enough top 100 overall players here and we end up with more 3* commits than 4*/5* commits combined, so it’s fair to call this mock class a disaster that would only widen the gap further between us and the elite programs.

As much as a couple 3* commits may rise to low-end 4* status, there’s a world of difference between an eventual fringe 4* and a high 4*/top 100 overall player. We need to land a boatload of the latter if we want to compete with the elites.

Thankfully I expect Mario to far exceed this mock class.

I expect the class to be better too. I only wanted to highlight the best/worst (floor) class if it makes sense. IMO, the OL/DL recruiting will make or break people's opinion of the the class.

Would have landed us between 13 and 14 last year.

Also, a very underwhelming OL class IMO as well. People will say no biggie because we had the top OL class last year, but it’s about stacking talent year after year. The elite programs don’t take classes off.
Oh, I guess you haven't heard about the two unproven freshmen that's supposedly scaring all the OL recruits away huh?

Won't happen, but that's a bad class unless you are okay with 7-8 win seasons. Sub 50% blue chip ratio will never have you winning anything of significance. You need to stack class after class of 60%+ just to be in the discussion of competing with the big boys.
