Who's transferring???

I'm not necessarily writing him off, but he ask for permission to talk to other schools and permission was granted. I'm just looking at the numbers, we will have 7 scholarship QB's next year...not including the walk-ons. Seems like a lot. My point was, if he decided to leave his scholarship would be put to good use. But, fully I understand your point on the QB position will be a position of need next year, but not necessarily in numbers but someone stepping up and taking the reigns over from Morris. Go Canes!

Dewey deciding to ride it out as the fourth string QB and not transfer...would've love to get that scholarship and use it in an position of need.

Once Morris leaves, QB is a HUGE position of need. They obviously felt Dewey was worth a scholarship in the beginning so keeping him around to push for the job next year is fine.

You can't write this kid off already.

OK I see your point. I guess my thinking is because of how much Golden has stressed numbers at the QB spot. Obviously there will be some attrition but if you can get a kid to stick around a little longer and possibly develop, then that's good. I know we have other needs but right now we have a big jumble of untested guys behind Morris. If we give them another season to learn and compete it might give a better idea on who we keep going forward. Remains to be seen I guess.

I don't think anyone ever suggested Golden would flat out tell people, you are going to transfer, bye and then pully their scholly. But every coach even "nice guys" like Golden have ways of encouraging kids to move on if he feels they aren't contributing to their ability or have become complacent/lazy.

Why the quotation marks around the words "nice guys?"
