Who's transferring???

As for Dewey, I am confused why he would give up so early. 2014 is wide open and even if Ryan Williams is the guy, 2015 is still wide open. Dewey is still in his first year of college and he redshirted, is he really giving up so quickly.

I really hope David Thompson reports to summer camp for Football.

Williams, Crow, Olsen, and Thompson will be on scholarship. People are forgetting about Garrison Lassitor who has his ride paid for by the Yankees. I think this kid could end up being a pleasant surprise at the QB position in the future.

Lockhart leaving makes sense when you consider this years WR class. Take a chance on him getting better after an ACL tear or pick up another stud at the position who hasn't torn his ACL?

lol at anybody claiming Jones is at the bottom of the WR corps.

The kid redshirts his first year and all of a sudden he can't hang...

some people on this board don't have a clue how college football works.

The kids had offers from South Carolina, Lville, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Miami.

While true, it's also humorous that about a month ago the threads were all "lol at people claiming Dewey is a bust already. he redshirted as a freshman & we're already throwing dirt on the guy?"

And he lo and behold was the transfer. Just seems that whomever the coaching staff is talking about least is close to the chopping block. Hope Jones comes around but it is what it is.
Well only one quarterback can play at a time whereas multiple WRs can play at once. Not the same situation.

True but then you could say Miami has better options than Jones at WR barring injuries of course.

I thought all along that either Jones or Carter would end up off the team depending on who stepped up. Looks like Carter has made a move. I don't know if I am right or not but it just seemed when they were recruited, they were brought in to basically compete for a certain job on the team.

Exactly. Personally, I'm against of having multiple QB commitments in this class. I understand why we took multiple QB's two years ago because there was no depth. However, the our QB depth is establish.

Stephen Morris (obviously starter)
Gray Crow/Ryan Williams (competing for the top backup spot)
Kevin Oslen (redshirt, think of FSU RS QB J. Winston)
G. Lassitor (preferred walkon)
A. Eduorad (QB commitment)

Agree, we wanted a big bodied possession WR, who could also be a mis-match in the redzone, and agree that it seems Carter is making the jump.

Bye Bye Dewey and Good Luck Young Man! Should find a spot somewhere. Its just going to get too crowded for him to compete at the U.

The cream will always rise to the top, good luck to those who weren't able to do it here.

well, it is good to see that we are able to turn away a high school All American at the QB position.

it sure is better than having a safety waste two years as back up QB (Highsmith) or burning a redshirt on a QB who wasn't ready (Morris) due to lack of depth.

i loved lockharts tape but i guess he figures coming back from an acl and having to compete with dorsett, Malcom (if healthy) coley, etc. will be tough. Dewey i could care less but would like to see lockhart stay

Now Dewey is staying at UM according to Barry Jackson

Golden wants a bunch of QB's on the roster. The problem is convincing capable ones of carrying clipboards or running the scout team. If we can get Dewey to stick around, I think that's a good thing. Seems like a matter of time though.

Decided to stay. Interesting.

Barry Jackson ‏@flasportsbuzz: Also, after UM granted Preston Dewey permission this week to find another school - and after talking to other schools - his father said...

What's annoying was playing Morris at all in 2011.

Must have found out that **** schools like Rice weren't even interested or willing to give him any guarantees. Writing was on the wall for Dewey in the spring game when Lassiter was getting reps before him. He's a smart kid, though, and it's good to have an extra arm around for practices.

P.S. I keep hearing how Crow is pushing Williams, but I sure as **** didn't see that in the spring game. Williams looks light years better.

What were our options? And the way it looks now, even if he didn't play in 2011 he'd wind up leaving after a monster 2013 season with a season of eligibility remaining.

Not blaming the coaches or anything but the NCAA for suspending Jacory for the opener. Just annoying.

I think Dewey realized that going to the NFL might not be an option so might as well stay and graduate from a school like Miami.

Also just b/c Carter and Jones are buried on the depth chart right now doesnt mean they are thinking about transferring..... They are only red-shirt freshmen
