Who's transferring???

I'm no insider but I have to think that maybe D'Mauri Jones will leave. There are a lot of quality players before him on the depth chart.

I don't see Dewey going anywhere yet.

I think you see Jones or Lockhart leave. Would have put money on Jones before the Lockhart rumors arrived.

Anything else is just a guess.

Rico Williams, maybe? Hunter Wells? But they're just young pups in the grand scheme anyway.

Honestly, independent of certain position numbers being unbalanced, I like the kids on our roster. Not much fat to trim, IMO.

ok guys spill the beans

We're all adults here....

Worst thread ever. 3 lines. Not one line is even remotely "good English."

If you are going to start a thread at least have something to say or say something well.

Relax dude! You know what he's trying to say, this isn't English 101! SMDH

Seriously it's getting pathetic how people jump on the OP for threads they think aren't threads that should be discussed. It's retarded.

I think We're going see maybe Dewey,a WR(or two) an OL(Wells?) a DE and that's about it but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a shocker.

good call, if this info is true

### We hear UM is granting quarterback Preston Dewey his release – a mutual decision because he was unlikely to play here. Gray Crow surpassed him as the likely No. 3 in the past few months, and David Thompson and incoming Kevin Olsen likely would have, too. Dewey came to UM as a three-star prospect who was coached by former BYU star quarterback Ty Detmer in Austin, Tx.... Crow will enter August still in the mix for the No. 2 job, but Ryan Williams is the favorite.

Rumors also are swirling about receiver Robert Lockhart possibly departing, but that is not definite. Al Golden declined to address the status of Lockhart or any other possible transfer for a couple of weeks, until the semester is over and grades have been processed.

lol at anybody claiming Jones is at the bottom of the WR corps.

The kid redshirts his first year and all of a sudden he can't hang...

some people on this board don't have a clue how college football works.

The kids had offers from South Carolina, Lville, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Miami.

While true, it's also humorous that about a month ago the threads were all "lol at people claiming Dewey is a bust already. he redshirted as a freshman & we're already throwing dirt on the guy?"

And he lo and behold was the transfer. Just seems that whomever the coaching staff is talking about least is close to the chopping block. Hope Jones comes around but it is what it is.

The business of college football i tell ya. I thought this kid would contribute. I remember when he flew from Texas just to.watch Duke and Ereck's game.

One of the QBs had to leave no matter what. Wish Preston the best of luck with his football career and I will continue to follow him. I wonder where he will end up.

Well only one quarterback can play at a time whereas multiple WRs can play at once. Not the same situation.

True but then you could say Miami has better options than Jones at WR barring injuries of course.

And arguably more important, better options to hold us over in the near term with Coley coming in and Lewis coming back from injury, and better options in long-term given this year's WR class. Both realities make it fertile ground to say the guy isn't likely to step foot on the field so he's a prime transfer candidate. That's all people are saying.

But yes, valid that 1 QB on field at a time maximizes the impact of a scholarship spent on a guy who won't play.

TIFWIW, my buddy who's friends with al the players told me that Dewey had a weak arm and couldn't make the throws.

Confirmed on Twitter through all the UM beat writers. Wish him the best. Barry Jackson from the Herald should be reporting on this today, Wednesday.

Exerpt from Barry's Sports Buzz column:
