Who is the best team?

I agree with you.

My point was that we beat uF by 4 scores, and UT squeaks by them at home.
I have a feeling they'll be right up our asses when the new polls come out later.

I mentioned earlier that Ball State took Vandy into the 4th quarter.
The same Vandy team that beat Bama.

Since this is all we have to compare, I don't know why results like these are ignored.

The SEC is like this guy I used to play golf with.
He was always good for a mulligan (or two) on the front and back nine.
We are on the same page. I’m fully prepared to drop in the rankings to make room for another one loss $EC team ahead of us. I texted some friends last night saying don’t be surprised if Tennessee jumps us. I was half kidding, but also half serious.

Glad you found a new golf pal.

When we crush UF in their own stadium and take their souls, it doesn’t count but when Tennessee needs a late fourth quarter comeback to beat that same team in Knoxville, it’s a “good” win.
UF is only a quality team when playing other SEC teams. You forgot the qualifier.

I still think the best two teams are in the Big 10.

The SEC is overrated imo, anyone can beat anyone but they all have flaws.

1. Ohio State (they lost to Oregon due to two swing plays - the Judkins fumble and the Oregon weird onside kick, not to mention Howard not running out of bounds). They would still be favored in a rematch.

2. Oregon
3. Georgia (getting a healthy Mykel Williams completely changed their defense, and they’re still without an All-SEC LB; HOWEVER, Beck is extremely mid and can easily lose them another game or two).

4. Texas
5 and on - completely up for grabs between LSU/A&M/Miami/Ole Miss/Clemson).

I’m out on Penn State, Bama, Tennessee, any BIG 12 team, Notre Dame.

I still think Ole Miss is sneaky here - the LSU game they left 17 points on the board 1Q and were without arguably the best WR in college football in Tre Harris for a majority of the 2H. Their DL is legit; I would not want to play them in December if they end up making a run down the stretch.

LSU’s defense has improved tremendously with no Harold Perkins on the field. Weeks is a baller.
Agreed. The best two teams are likely OSU and Oregon. Georgia looks great defensively but I agree that Beck is average and can’t be counted on to carry them in a shootout. They also don’t have any receivers that really scare me.

Miami is number 1

Great RB room
Very good WR room
Great OL
Very good DL
Very good LB

We are in every game against anyone.

To me, UGA and Texas are still up there over us because of the entirety of the roster. They have elite defenses when firing on all cyclinders. Their OL’s have both taken over games. They’ve got weapons on the outside, they’ve got explosive RBs, just more talent overall.

But what we have that most other teams don’t have - a dynamite and game-changing QB. That alone gives us a chance against 99% of opponents.

The Canes are like Washington last year or Oklahoma under Lincoln Riley.

We can say they don’t have enough on defense to win the title, but they are in the top group. The offense is good enough to beat anybody in a shootout.
Tom Fornelli and Bud Elliot of CBS and Cover 3 podcast compared Miami to 2023 Washington (vs 2023 LSU and 2022 TCU). Basically they said Cam is like Pennix- the quarterback who can make the play when you need it. And that Miami can win it all in a year like this with no dominant team. They somewhat alluded to in a game against Georgia who do you trust to make a play.

This. There is not a team out there we can't score on. We have an atrocious secondary, and every other team has flaws. Maybe our secondary is the most flawed of all. But Cam is our superpower that no other team has. ... It's going to be a wild end of season.

You might be right, but I think the jury's out still. IMO, they're both overrated and just look dominant because the only decent teams they've played are each other.

I think UGA’s other issues is Bobo. Why he continues to think Beck can sling it all over and make good choices. Their OL is still great and when they get Rutledge back even better. Line up and chew some clock with Etienne.

Every week my opinion changes. It’s crazy. Oregon is likely the #1 team but you’re right their two best opponents are Boise and OSU and both games came down to the wire.

Ohio St will destroy Penn State. Need them to lose to Indiana, Michigan too preferably but Meatchicken is dog crap so that's probably a pipe dream.

Georgia still has Ole Miss and Tennessee. They have the defense but Bobo can't get out of his own way.

Texas will still be in the conversation with a weak November schedule (if they can get past Mighty Vandy next weekend of course.)

Oregon probably has the easiest on-paper path remaining (besides Miami) but I don't trust their ability to sustain success, at least not yet.

Making the playoff this year would be Coach of the Year territory for Mario, IMO. Cam Ward + a couple of breaks and who knows? I still don't think we're a title contender yet, but a playoff berth coupled with recruiting season could get us there sooner than later.

the top 12 are:

GEORGIA
OREGON
OHIO STATE
PENN STATE
TEXAS
TENNESSEE
LSU
CLEMSON
NOTRE DAME
BYU
MIAMI
INDIANA

In that order. Until we can show we can hold an offense with a pulse to under 40 points, we are just a great offense with a really good punter and kicker.

That’s a playoff caliber team, potentially, but not a great one.
Tennessee above us?

I'll just say this. I believe Tennessee dropped in the polls after the UF win.

I honestly have no idea. I’m just jaded that the $EC behaves as though they’re swinging 16” between their legs and we are all just supposed to take it (pause), while the media does their bidding and keeps the narrative going.

Only one way to fix it - beat those MFers.
Sounds like a perfect metaphor for the current state of politics. But I digress. Somehow we still have some in the media that trust our talent and keep us in the top six. Even on ESPN we have some that think we can hang with anyone because of Cam and our offense. The real test will be the CFP playoff committee. Traditionally that is where the SEC/BIG really made up ground on the other conferences. I never trust those SOBs.

I'm still a little suspect of Oregon, given their performance against the Idaho teams early in the season, but could be early season jitters. I also f*cking hate them and always have, so could be bias.
