Who are we recruiting at corner

No offense but tell me what does that 40 time have to do with my post? Are you saying that Howard had a high athletic ceiling? Maybe you thought that I was belittling Howard but I was not. Howard was a good athlete who certainly belonged at UM. I just never thought that he was a 5 star caliber prospect. The crux of my post was that bad coaching and even worse scheme fit royally screwed him out of being able to reach his potential. I never thought of Howard as being slow but never thought of him as the speed merchant type either. You say that 24/7 has a verified High School 40 time 4.47 for Tracy Howard but ESPN had him running a 4.65 his senior year in HS and later on Howard ran a 4.60 at the NFL combine. I find those last two 40 times to be much more representative of what I saw on the field. Howard was a quick and physical CB who lacked recovery speed IMO. Howard also possessed great instincts, good lateral quickness, good ball skills, aggression and a knack for locating the football and making plays but he was never a burner. Besides, I've never considered High School 40 times to be very reliable and I'm willing to bet that the 40 time in question was hand held. I can get a few girlfriends I had back in High School verify that I have a 10 inch ******* and I can assure you that those measurements were absolutely and most certainly "Hand Held" among other things.
My bad u right I agree with everything u said. Also I was just throwing out there the 247 thing. That’s the only recruiting site I follow. Personally I believe all the others are trash

All those HS stats don't speak to the point I was making in my post. When I say that Howard was not a legit 5 star prospect I am talking about how he projects to the next level. I said that he didn't have a huge upside athletically which means that I thought he was close to maximizing his athletic potential in HS. There are hundreds of kids who put up video game numbers in HS yet are not projected to be as good a prospect as another kid who has a great feel for the game but hasn't really begun to develop physically and athletically until they hit the next level. Yes Howard was a beast in High School and was a physical lockdown corner with great instincts and lateral quickness but I always thought that he had peaked athletically in High School. Howard was in my opinion a high floor player that I considered a high end 3 star or even a low 4 star not for the stats he accumulated in High School but for the type of college player I thought he could be. Now Patrick Peterson was a slam dunk 5 star recruit!
& I clearly stated he locked everyone up in high school from the grid iron to 7on7, gave you his stats...he was 5/11 and 175 and also returned kicks...dummy this means he was a legit 5 star high school prospect so that other **** you're talking is just that...****!

and the rest of that crap you wrote is revisionist history....had coaches at UM left him alone...kid would've left here a 2nd-3rd rd draft pick. Had much better technique than than Artie without all the penalties.

You don't need to be uber athletic to excel at cb...this is what you don't understand. Artie burns sucks in the NFL and has all the athleticism in the world. Be quiet.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I never said that he wasn't a good football player with no skills.
I know you didn't..you're running your mouth about things you really don't even understand. Talking in circles and making zero sense while using revisionist history.

Solid take but we'll probably have to agree to disagree. I never said you had to be uber athletic to make it in the NFL just that I thought TH had maxed out in terms of development shortly after high school. Thanks again for the discussion.

I agree with your points.

I don't think Howard was a 5 star corner - Probably a middling 4 Star as a 5 star corner just feels different to what we had with Howard.

It does not mean he could not have had a better UM career. I think he could have moved to Safety as he did in the Pros but I do not think he was ever a 5 star guy.

Not just directed at you but many seem to view someone in hindsight by how they played when they left UM rather when they entered UM. The same can be said with the group recruited from 1998-2002. They left as All Americans and high draft picks but many came in as 3*s. What was Reed rated again coming out of LA.?

That's a fair point and not disagreeing that the bias might have found its way in.

However, I am not saying that he should have beensome 3 star or lower; I am just saying that I did not see him in the same category as a Patrick Johnson or a Minkah Fitzpatrick even as a recruit.

It's a very short list of recruits in the same category as a Patrick Johnson or a Minkah Fitzpatrick. In fact, as long as I've been following it, I can't remember one better that Patrick Johnson. You may have to go back to Deion Sanders.

Yes of course - I guess what you are saying is that they are even tiers to the 5 star CBs of the world.

I was happy as **** when we got Tracy as I thought the Gators had him but even then, I was a bit curious about his athletic profile and how he was a consensus 5 star.
