Where is Mario?

No need, we don't deserve to be in the playoffs, besides should Guidry and our defense be given another opportunity to fall on its face? I like our chances against a bowl team but not against a playoff team, we are not there yet, IMO.
Mario is probably hoping we don't make the playoffs so our shart doesn't get pushed in again. Don't blame him. We can't and won't even beat Indiana. Let another team go that is more deserving.

‘We are all focused on recruiting talent acquisition is the lifeblood. We can’t do two things at once so we focused on no recruiting and just football and lost 2/3 games and then we went back to just recruiting and lost half the class’

He is not controlling the dialogue. Remember years ago, when Bama had a close loss and Nick Saban was in the post-game pounding the table stating that his Bama team deserved to be in the playoffs and the voters ended up agreeing and letting them in.

Why is Mario not turning every media session into a bully pulpit where he is going to bat for the team and laying out the argument for Miami to be in the CFP? He is only giving generic recaps of game. The hats off to Syracuse isn't going to get it done.

Dabo has said more about Miami deserving to be in the CFP than Mario. What is Mario doing?! Add politicking to another thing that Mario did not absorb with his time around Saban.
Actually in the post game presser that stuck out to me when he was asked about it. He gave such a weak answer it didn't have any backbone behind it. Something like "well, we've won 10 games against good competition [trails off in shame]"

Mario's on the trail doing exactly what he needs to be doing. Nobody gives a flying **** if he argues for us to get in or not like Saban did. For one, Mario is not Saban. It'll just be interpreted as a HC complaining.

The guy had to cancel a recruiting trip so he could focus on losing to Syracuse, he'll probably get some talking points after the playoffs start lmao.

Again, we clearly have our faults. But that’s not the conversation here. Pretty much every team except maybe one has warts. Do you know what they don’t have? Cam Ward. And that that’s no small thing, especially in college football.

Why should we not make it? Because we might lose, or give up a ton of points? So what. This is not a 4-team field. if it were then I would agree with you.

But who should go instead, Bama? Well they only scored three against OU, so they would probably be shut out in the playoffs, then, right? They lost to 2 .500 teams and have a RB playing QB who rarely completes a forward pass. Set aside your expectations/disappointment and tell me why they are better or more deserving? And the logo on the helmet doesn’t count.

Some of these other teams on the short list have been blown out. We won every game except 2, both on the road in one-possession games. In other words, we’ve had a chance to win every single one. That plus Cam Ward sounds like a team that could make some noise, at least *compared to the rest of the options* (as opposed to some hypothetical field of amazing options that are just so far ahead of us).

Carry the banner, man.

By the way, I completely agree. I’m disappointed I don’t see a lot more pro-Miami talk coming from… Miami.

Feels like the same tendency that led us from bro-ball to the offense we have today. First time around we play conservative until we realize that doesn’t work, then we do when needs to be done. I don’t want to look back and regret we didn’t take the initiative in trying to advocate for a spot in the CFP.

Need to be much more proactive.

Do I want Miami in the CFP? Of course

But the defense has been so historically bad, that it’s pretty hard to bang the table when you’re legs are tied to the Guidry anchor

I’ve got zero expectations. First things first tho, SMU needs to win Saturday night

Actually, first things first, Miami needs to be in the Top 11 tomorrow night.

If they're not, it's over.

THEN, if we are, we need SMU to win.
