anyone know why we had Shayon Green line up as a CB for two plays in a row?

saw someone mention this on twitter. i rewatched the game looking for it and found it.

let me know if the pic isn't visible, i tried uploading to TinyPic but the site always gives me problems.

He's covering the TE. We've had plays where Green is in coverage all year, doesn't look pretty lol

yes, i know.

yes i know. he usually isn't lined up 5 steps from being on the sideline, though.

Protection against something Duke took advantage of the previous week: easy pickings with numbers on WR screens. Say what you wish about talent and anything else, but I don't think anyone can argue that our defensive formations, alignments and calls are predominantly dictated by the offense.

take a look at the top side of the first pic. lol.

Lu, did we end up in anything other than man on the outside when that happened?

So, for those who say it's not about scheme, defend Green lining up 5 yards from the sideline covering a TE, and Gilbert covering a TE. That should NEVER happen. Opposing OCs don't have to create mismatches, Coach D does it for them.

Don't remember. Haven't re-watched this one yet. Would be helpful if you tossed me that ol' Larry/Tano chart.

FWIW, early in this one, we threw a couple things at VA and our guys just didn't make the plays. On one TD, the entire secondary basically watched. That's not a manipulation or numbers issue. It's funny, from memory, we actually looked worse on plays with better results. That Gunter INT was really bad stuff.

I was actually thinking about doing that but it was raining and I sit in the upper deck, so it would have gotten soaked.

My observation was that we only played in man off of that look. We actually had the same thing happen last week, but it was Cornelius who lined up outside of Tracy Howard when either a tight end or runningback was motioned out. It was something I was looking for yesterday.

Clearly that's a talent issue and he didn't properly execute what Corch D wanted. That offensive player is supposed to be open by at least twenty yards. I'm sure Dorito will point that out in his weekly "throw-player-xy&z-under-the-bus" address.

Green and Gilbert are essentially OLBs. Has either one put their hand in the dirt at any point this season?

An OLB can't cover a TE if he flexes out wide?

The defense is obviously having serious problems, but people are complaining about things that happen all over the country.

What did you see on that play?

It looked like Gunter had the flat, but he bailed because the TE released late.

TE chipped and released late, Gunter dropped into outer space. We sat back. Earlier in the game, we actually forced their hand (then our guys didn't make the play).

But but but its not about scheme its about talent....so we should believe that Green's talent had him lined up as a 270lb one legged DB.

Im telling you, we are out numbered and out flanked on so many pre plays you dont have to be any type of smart to call plays against this defense. Nothing to do with talent....at all. Look at the first play and look at the top side as someone said. We see it over and over and over and over. Game 11 of year 3, but no wait for 2 more years. **** shame Miami fans can defend such incompetence.

Probably because when teams throw a bubble screen at us, whoever is usually out there couldn't fight off a block to save their mother from dying.

Not defending it, just thnking of some reason why.
