What is a realistic prediction for this defense?

The argument that we sucked bc Randy left no talent is interesting in that we've gotten progressively worse as we've added talent.
I'm going w dead last defense in country with top 20 talent.
We switch DC and we are top 20 easy and probably 10-11 wins.
That's how fcking bad our defense has been

I think the only realistic predictions we can have about the defense are:

- we will have a defense

- whether it's great or sucks again, many will still hate D'onfrio, he will get all the blame if it's bad, none of the credit if it's markedly improved (it will be all about "talent")
 
#70 or Worst and STILL trending up. But Golden will fix it with 3 more recruiting class after Ed Reed kid signs and Ray Lewis III finally grows into his dad. I sincerely hope am wrong but having hope in No D is like thinking your whoring GF is going to be faithful.

Bullsht. If we field a top 20 defense, every cane fan alive who said Donofrio sucks would gladly eat crow
I was eating it last year before vomiting during the wake forest game.

Everyone wants us to win.
 
What is y'all are seeing that has you optimistic . I don't see it but them I'm not an expert . Hopefully spring wasnt any kind of barometer . On instinct looks like same garbage as last year

True. But, we need an attacking style of defense that lets our athletes play to their strengths. The front four, especially the tackles, would be more productive playing with force and speed...downhill defense. We have serious talent on defense, although there are some questions regarding depth at LB.

This year's defense must define its identity. Last couple of years we haven't been able to stuff the run or slow down anyone through the air. It's been bad defense. Golden has to take away one phase of the game...starting now.
 
The defense should be better because the offense should be on the field more, converting more third downs. Better personnel, too. Maybe they'll shave 4 or 5 points off last years ppg. and a few yards. I don't see a dramatic jump in the D though. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it happens.
