What happened to FSU?

Its all about the QB

Look at Michigan and Auburn - lots of talent but weak at QB

No it's not. They can't block anyone. Literally. Memphis whipped their *** up front with a bunch of 270lb DTs. Duke is undersized, they consistently beat FSU at the point of attack. Something is really amiss up there. Their linemen have 100% regressed. Darius Washington was first-team All-ACC last year. Even if you don't think he deserved that, you have to admit he wasn't awful. He was, at worst, good. Now he's awful. Maurice Smith was decent. He can't block a soul.

They have THE WORST rushing offense in the country. Dead last. Last out of every single FBS team. That's not because of the quarterback.

They have soooo many issues. It's not just about one unit. But you can't have a functional offense if you can't block.

I expected a drop off this year especially with DJ behind center but no one could’ve predicted this debacle. They have the athletes, have they just given up? Is this a culture thing? Their talent is much better than their record. They should have been able to win with running the ball and their defense alone. Us and UF are the only games they have left to save their seasons so I expect them to come out fired up.
I Dont Morgan Freeman GIF

Last couple years they recruited portal players based on performance and tape, this year they recruited portal players based on the stars next to their name out of high school. Simple as that

Travis, Coleman, Wilson, Verse, Fiske vs Brown, Jones, Earl, DJU, all the Alabama players

The Fall of the Florida State Seminoles in 2024: A Critical Analysis

The Florida State Seminoles, once a decent college football program, faced an unprecedented decline in 2024. This critical essay explores the multifaceted reasons behind this fall, examining not only on-field performance but also off-field distractions and cultural shifts that contributed to their demise.

The Fans’ Discontent: A Symbolic Rejection

One of the more absurd yet telling aspects of the Seminoles' decline was the fans’ refusal to engage in what became a bizarre cultural phenomenon: the rejection of the “dog ****” meme that emerged during the season. This metaphorical gesture symbolized broader frustrations with the team's performance and management. Fans, traditionally a source of support, felt alienated and disillusioned, leading to a decline in attendance and enthusiasm. This disengagement reflected a deeper malaise within the fanbase, suggesting that the team’s struggles were not merely on-field but resonated throughout the community.

Cultural Shifts: Homoeroticism and Team Dynamics

In an era where traditional masculinity is increasingly scrutinized, the Seminoles found themselves grappling with excessive homoerotic activity, which became a point of contention among players and fans alike. While camaraderie and bonding are vital in sports, the overt expressions of affection raised eyebrows and led to a perception of the team as lacking seriousness and discipline. This cultural shift may have distracted players from their primary focus: winning games. Such distractions can erode team chemistry and focus, ultimately undermining performance.

Health Crises: The Shadow of a Possible AIDS Outbreak

The specter of a potential AIDS outbreak within the team added a layer of complexity to their struggles. While unverified, rumors of health issues circulated, impacting player morale and public perception. The fear of illness can create an environment of anxiety and distraction, hindering athletes from performing at their best. Moreover, such health concerns can disrupt training schedules and team cohesion, leading to further decline in performance. The management’s inability to address these issues effectively exacerbated the problem, illustrating a failure in leadership.

Overemphasis on Non-Performative Activities

The team's preoccupation with shoulder rubs and other non-essential activities also contributed to their downfall. While self-care and recovery are critical in a physically demanding sport, the emphasis on these practices seemed to overshadow fundamental training and strategy. As players focused more on personal comfort than collective performance, the team suffered. This shift indicates a misallocation of priorities, where the need for physical and psychological wellness was prioritized over the rigorous demands of competitive play.

The Core Issue: Lack of Talent

Ultimately, the most significant factor in the Seminoles' decline was a stark lack of talent. Recruiting struggles and inadequate player development created a talent gap that was insurmountable in a competitive landscape. The team’s inability to attract and cultivate high-caliber athletes left them at a disadvantage against rivals. This deficiency in talent manifested in poor performance on the field, lack of execution, and an inability to adapt to opponents’ strategies. Talent is the foundation of any successful program, and without it, even the most spirited efforts will fall flat.

Conclusion

The fall of the Florida State Seminoles in 2024 serves as a cautionary tale about the intersection of culture, health, and performance in sports. While fans’ discontent, cultural distractions, potential health crises, and misplaced priorities contributed to their demise, the fundamental issue lay in a lack of talent. To rebuild, the Seminoles must address these multifaceted challenges, reinvigorate their talent pipeline, and reestablish a culture that prioritizes performance and unity. Only through a comprehensive reevaluation of both on-field and off-field factors can the Seminoles hope to reclaim their storied legacy in college football.

They have looked awful, for a team that has been very good at portal acquistions
they but their talent evals this time were awful + HS recruiting has been historically bad.......

Last week I went over their 2024 transfer portal class which was ranked 7th in the country. 10 four star players came over from the portal. Why they were 4 stars is the bigger question in hand. Anyways, all 17 players they brought in were busts. A couple of decent guys at best but all of them didn't live up to what they were hoping. That's why FSU is 1-6.

Ton of bad evals in HS recruiting. They have some talent and we will see it but they can’t develop a soul right now. Looking like a recent memory Miami team but worse

I already answered this in another thread.

F$U brought in 23 recruits and 17 Portal players. That is 40 new players, for an 85 person roster. That is nearly 50% turnover in one year.

Next, make a list of all the players that F$U lost, particularly those that were drafted.

In a side-by-side comparison, list the 40 players they added. The freshmen are not ready to play and nearly every single Portal player they signed is either a bust or injured.

Mix that in with a dose of "bad evals/bad coaching" and you have an incredibly simple answer to how the ****show happened.

It's not complicated. Bad players replacing good players, and sub-par coaching.
