What’s your biggest concern with this team?

#19 and #0 on defense.. always taking bad angles and missing tackles. Offense- Cam Ward holds the ball to long, either take off or stop playing. Plays- have yet to see a wr run a dig route or a stop and go. Dline let's slow QBs look like Michael Vick

For me, the number one concern I have is seeing #7 on the field so much. I can’t figure out what he is doing on most plays and I’m not sure he can either. I can’t find what he’s good at, and I feel like we have a ball hawk in Markeith or a box safety in Zaquan and at least with those guys you have one thing you know they can do well, even if they are a liability.

The D overalll is so boom or bust that it’s scary. Guidry actually reminds me a lot of Manny. In that they generally only give you one half of good football. They either figured it out before the game or make good adjustments at half. But it such a risk taking style of D that it’s never dominant. It’s so call reliant and doesn’t feel like we rely on guys to just play their spot, beat a guy and make a play. It’s all part of the call and design of the defense.

Seeing Cam get sacked so much and not have many plays where he scrambles scares me. He’s not that much better of an athlete against FSU he’s gonna struggle against any teams on the playoffs. Definitely the top teams. And our WR couldn’t create separation at all either. Though we never had to take chances so I feel like Cam was just only wanting to take high % throws l/plays when it was a broken play.

Overall we are pretty darn good. Very excited to watch this season progress. Would love to see us handle business the rest of the season the way we did against FSU. In control, with little doubt of the outcome.

The game stunk.

We were supposed to beat our most hated rivals by 40+ points. We played a 1-6 FSU team like they were a legit ACC contender & it's all because we have some stupid quota that we're trying to fulfill to give a certain someone their pound of flesh.

It was the worst game we've played this season because it was the only game we've played where we didn't outright try to kill our opponent & we were supposed to.

But it's the exact kinda game that our fans love. Boring, low scoring, jam-packed with Field goals.

Against a better team, that gameplan is not gonna work.
We were supposed to beat VT and Cal pretty badly too.

At least they covered against FSU.

No stop and go? Did you see Sam Brown score a 50+ yarder on UL last week using that same concept?

Right now we’ll need to score 40+ points against good offenses, because the defense is mediocre. Maybe they can fix some things, but most of it is a lack of talent. We need better LBs, CBs, and Safeties.

Tackling tackling and tackiling. It’s either something coaches aren’t addressing or dare I say we’re still a lil soft. Tackiling is fundamentals and the will to get someone on the ground. Head up, wrap up, grab cloth and get the MF’er on the turf! Maybe because of concussions coaches are hesitant to really get after it coaching tackiling. Well, this team needs layers of those helmet pads on and do F’ing tackling drills. From all angles.

Oh yeah, in the tourney, Cam gonna have to check down and take what’s given or take off on a much quicker timer otherwise we are gonna be off schedule and predictable.

My $0.02

Go Canes!

I don't know that much but I have heard the expression take what the defense gives you. I think that was the situation. FSU tried to take away our passing game (2 deep safeties, bracket number 7 etc.). so we just ran it down their throats. we had 8 possessions all game and I think we scored on everyone of them.

Were VA Tech & Cal 1-6 with backup QB's starting when we played them?
Miami was a 17 point favorite against VT and a 10 point favorite against Cal.

Miami was a 21 point favorite over FSU.

The only game that Miami won by more than the expected margin was FSU.

I’m way more mad that VT and Cal came down to the last second than I am about only beating FSU by 22.

Were either of those teams ranked dead last in the ACC & one of the worst teams in the Nation with 2 backup QB's starting?

Tackling is first and foremost… second the pass rush and sacking the qb … we rush right by the qb .. we don’t settle and constrict the pocket down from the ends … third … arroyo is criminally under utilized … kid is a STUD get him the ball more

Tackling across the board in college is bad this year from what I’ve seen. Not sure if it’s fallout from rule changes and player safety, less practicing etc etc

Not making excuses but yeah it’s really bad

Yeah probably the fall out. If the rule makers had there way the game would go flag or 2 hand touch

A lot of people hard on the oline pass blocking but a lot of people are not hard enough on the wr room. I thought they had their worst game of the season and got bodied by their dbs. That’s my biggest concern from this game and I’m hoping it’s the outlier.
