What’s your biggest concern with this team?

You guys are insufferable. Enjoy the W. Enjoy the state championship. Enjoy the progress from 2021 to now. This isn't a perfect team. The OL is good though, FSU just sold out to get pressure and played tight coverage. As a result, they got mauled. They didn't want to let the game get out of hand and they were kinda successful? 36-7 is still a blowout...

I think that there are three statements that are true to a certain extent (@Memnon can kill me for it, it's allowed):

1. We didn't put up a specific gameplan, we tried to run what we always run and FSU basically took it away. We're looking for the intermediate throws, we're not a dink-and-dunk football team and FSU played exactly to that. We don't run too many slants, drags or in-cuts and Arroyo isn't a factor in the pass game. Only reasoning I have is that Mario is trying to save him for later because of his injuries.

Also: The lack of switch and pick concepts was extremely apparent. The one time we ran one, we got flagged (where I almost fell out of my bed laughing at the ref). Ironically, it felt like Dawsons bag was smaller than usual and he didn't really want to empty it until a TD drive was somewhat of a necessity.

2. We didn't have the necessary adjustment in the passgame and it didn't appear that it could become a factor in this game. Short passes in this offense are either screens or checkdowns. Mesh isn't really a staple play at this point. Usually it's where Restrepo is supposed to eat and he doesn't eat because we don't run concepts that cater to his short-area quickness.

3. The OL looked like they didn't care in pass protection. The first drive was so dominant, I could sense them easing off early on because it was that easy. After that, it gets difficult to get the switch back on. This team still has the same issue not becoming overly arrogant. Anez Cooper is out here signaling a first down into Little Jrs ear after allowing multiple pressures, a sack and held multiple times against a D-Line that should not be able to attack him like that. He's over 100 pounds lighter than you, stop yapping, line up and play.

Miami is their own biggest opponent. As always. We can talk about athletic ability and talent and all that, but as long as we don't stop feeling ourselves after some victories, we'll never win crap. And that's just as much of a signal towards Mario as it is towards the players.

And I fail to see an ******* leading this group and getting into peoples faces when they mess up. There's not enough tough mentality here from the players.

We still haven't played a complete or "clean" game yet. Dawson's playcalling seems to get stale after the initial script. As much as we should be happy about being 8-0, which I am, I think there's worry about 1. How we'll fare in the playoffs against teams who can take away what we do well and can also score 2. How we'll fare next year after Cam is gone. If the offensive playcalling and defense were just slightly better there would be less doom and gloom imo.
Don’t want to hear the word “elite” associated with this OL again.
Or any other position besides QB, including the DL which gets overrated every week.

@Memnon a couple of questions as I truly value your opinion…
1. In our first drive, IMO, FSU played their more traditional defense and it looked like we manhandled that defense. Do you think/agree that FSU changed their defense after that first drive? (Began playing 2 high safeties, to not allow any big plays and potentially get down 3 TDs quick)
2. If possible, could you explain the “pound of flesh” you wrote about in your first post? Sorry if that seems like a dumb question but I honestly don’t know.

Thanks, in advance.

Outside of those questions, I would’ve liked to have seen us destroy them but I’d rather have an ugly win than a pretty loss. And from a cardiac health standpoint, I needed a lower stress game. 🤣

And Heisman or no, Cam is IMO the best qb prospect in this year’s draft. He’s a monster, who, as an announcer said, can “look adversity in the face and smile.”

My only real concern is the back 5, and I think we’ll keep improving especially as ZP gets more reps and Brown gets healthy. … Also need to rotate in more young people.

Good stuff

It was also nice to hear Cam flat out say “no one was satisfied with our offense” in our post game

Granted yeah people say a lot of things but one of the enduring aspects of this team that gives me more optimism than the past is the mental makeup. IDGAF if the fans are happy or satisfied. We end up in a psychology debate

The team isn’t satisfied, most notably our leader. Good enough for me

I don’t think it was about our gameplan. It was about the way FSU played us. They dared us to run by playing two safeties deep. We took that dare and bludgeoned them.

Personally, I think they were playing to not give up 50. They had no chance of winning.
They played like Jimmy Johnson's Dolphins against the Dallas Cowboys in his first year I believe. We played not to lose... by a lot!

Why isn't Corch Feld screaming at people more?

That stache is intimidating.

Missed opportunity by our Canes that could have been a game.changer last night.

Probably left 40 pts on the field because of it.

MARIO GET THIS FIXED NOW!

Post of the year. You crushed that out of the stadium!

I'll put it like this...

If you pass the ball 15 plays in a row & then decide to run it, would expect for that run play to be a big gain? Now whatever your answer to that question is, just reverse the scenario.

Attempts don't equal rhythm. Rhythm is about when, where & why, not how many.

Again, the blame always goes on Cam for some odd reason, but all I ask, is this enough time to throw?

14 sacks over the 3 games & somehow he's still expected to be perfect, while also having to stay within a gameplan.

I mean, it probably won't be noticed until next year, but man some of yall just don't get it.

It doesn’t really matter what the down and distance is if your OL whiffs like this
