Whale Watch 2024: The Miami Whale DL Scorecard

Kinda mad I was busy at work and missed Simmons announcement.

But hey guys I’m sure no one is overreacting, cause as you can see by the image in OP, the fact we got into top 3 shows we outperformed expectations in this recruitment - by a lot.

Focus 100% on at least one of Breland, Franklin, and Stone + keeping our 2 studs we already got.

I think Stone is a pipe dream…We're fighting on the other two.

I don’t think it’s hyperbole to say that the program will officially remain dead forever if we have another **** season.

You probably aren’t far off…if 2022 and the current recruiting funk aren’t a wake up call to adapt, I don’t think we know what would be…

That’s actually the nightmare scenario. He leaves for Alabama after next year and we take ten steps back.
Actually could be a blessing in disguise. Then maybe Miami could go with a plan that makes sense (though I doubt it). Get a Lane Kiffin type, QB/Offense guru and go 9-3 and hope every 4 years or so double digits. See if you can't parlay that into more success.

Can’t happen without NIL.

Can’t happen without NIL.

With mid to lower tier NIL, a lobotomized monkey could still land a class in the mid teens at UM. The difference is that the scheme-focused coach would get a lot more out of the roster than a coach whose strategy depends on stacking the roster and overwhelming opponents with talent disparity. And before the Cristo-bros say I'm trolling, this is no disrespect to Cristobal. I'm sure he was promised that NIL would be available for recruits and he's not getting it.

he should take last seasons salary and use every penny towards NIL this year.

I don’t even know if matching is good enough.
Then beat it, it’s not rocket science.

DMoney said multiple times “Miami will take as many elite DLineman that want in”… did they expect to only pay 2/3? They had to plan that if 6/7 high quality wanted in then they would’ve had to pay no? That money gotta be somewhere lol

Agreed that it is all about the NIL. I never understood why Miami fans felt like the NIL opened the door to a Miami advantage or more evening of the playing field due to one billion dollar booster.

With state schools student bodies of 40,000 - 60,000 there is no way that Miami can ever compete against those numbers and the amount of NIL donations possible. Realistically shooting to get into the bottom of the top ten (even with an incredible game day scheemer) is all that this program can hope for most years.

Downer - yes. But unfortunately, that is reality.

It opened the door as an advantage because it made the playing field equal - everyone can spend.
These other SEC schools were dropping bags every year, NCAA was turning a cheek to it.

This isn’t some massive operation. Literally any P5 school could go nuclear if they wanted to due to NIL. If SMU wakes up tomorrow and says “**** it we’re going to spend 20Ms on 2025 recruiting class” guess what? They will have a top 5 class.

You bringing up alumni and student body size, but the amount needed really is a drop in a bucket amount. It’s not some large investment. It’s quite simple - either you’re fully invested or you’re not.
