Based off this dude's limited tape, he's a beast. Holy ****. He catches the ball really naturally, away from his body and at it's highest point. He looks like he'd be a good rebounder - he's got a natural feel for where the ball's going to be and he goes up and gets it. He's got great body control after the catch, too. I liked that he ran a lot of different routes in his tape.

And he straight up killed some guys blocking downfield in his junior tape. Seriously, I think they left in a body bag.

What an awesome get by Allan Goldman. This is a huge pickup.

His hands are so big that they could not find gloves to fit him in the first two days of the All American Army game. In practice he was catching the ball with his bare hands and said it hurt!
True story. I am sure he can snatch the ball out of the air with one hand if he has to.

Sign and place kid. No way he gets admitted.

We thought the same about Lockley. He wasn't going to sign his LOI. All of sudden he does and if he gets the right SAT score he is in.

Texas A M backed off him because of grades, but from an article I just read and will post below it looks like he was taking the ACT after signing day, and has really buckled down in the classroom. Plus we know how small town heroes can improve their overall GPA dramatically with the help of compliant teachers their last year in high school.

Just guessing here but it looks like he might have made a qualifying ACT score and henceforth signed his LOI with Tight End U.

The future appears unclear for ESPN 150 tight end Derrick Griffin.

The 6-foot-6, 228-pound prospect from Rosenberg (Texas) Terry will not be signing with Texas A&M on Wednesday, his coach at Terry, Tim Teykl, told ESPN.com on Tuesday.

Teykl confirmed that Griffin has not received a national letter of intent from the Aggies, nor is he expected to. As for whether Griffin will sign with another school or a junior college on Wednesday or any time in the near future, Teykl is uncertain.

"I'm not sure what he's going to do," Teykl said.

When Griffin entered his senior year at Terry, there were concerns about his ability to qualify academically in order to play NCAA football. Griffin acknowledged before his senior season that he understood the importance of doing well in the classroom and had modified his inner circle and social life.

The dual-sport star, who also plays basketball for Terry, made that work pay off in the fall semester, as he made the A-B honor roll, according to his basketball coach, Michael Jackson. However, he still has a long way to go to qualify, according to those familiar with Griffin's situation. He is scheduled to take the ACT this month.

Griffin originally committed to the Aggies on Jan. 6, 2012. He is the No. 33 player in the ESPN 150 and the nation's top-ranked tight end.

In January, Griffin admitted that he worked harder in the classroom this year than in previous years.

"At first, I was not doing anything," Griffin told ESPN.com. "Afterward, I realized what I had to do. Then I started doing all my work, started participating more and everything. Now, having seen how it was [at Texas A&M], I think, 'Man, I can't miss this opportunity.' So I'm going to do whatever I have to do to get in."

Griffin said then that his main goal was to "get to A&M. That's the only thing I want. Just to get into college, period."

Griffin could sign with a junior college and mentioned Blinn College as a possibility in January, but hadn't decided on an alternative plan at that time.

According to Teykl, Griffin's teammate, safety Victor Davis, is expected to sign with Texas A&M at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Davis, a three-star prospect, has been committed to the Aggies since Feb. 18, 2012.

al golden just stuck his hand up the *** of the state of Texas and pulled out a 6-6 stud WR. drop the negativity garbage.

With the talent we've brought in on offense, if our defense can be ranked in the 50s watch out. We should be able to out score teams next year and have a good enough defense that should lead to a ten win season.

Going to agree with a couple folks suggesting Donna and admissions are greenlighting a couple of marginal kids in good faith returns for Al's loyalty and hard work. Crew is grinding out there.

Not to mention Sonny who, apparantly, can foul out with the best of them.

Al's getting it done. 2014 should be DL loaded 3-4, with 2-3 OL, 2-3 RB's, 1-2 QB and stacking talent at other positions for depth and competition.

This kids grades are a hot mess. He's had several schools back off from him because of it.

The school who loses big-time kids at an alarming rate decides to sign him weeks after signing day. Why go through it if he doesn't have a shot?

Lost in all of this excitement - what kind of sunshine level are we dealing with here? Looks pretty low. There is no happiness behind those eyes. No compassion. He looks like he's trying to decide how to kill the cameraman, and that he is already at peace with the fact that he's going to take his life after the photoshoot.

Solid get. Just don't put his cage next to Artie's.
