We wont beat top tier Teams

I like how they sub the whole Dline for a few drives and expect the 2nd unit to improve over the year since it’s a mix of younger guys and vets.

Would love to see that at safety but Guidry loved having his starters play a majority of the snaps at that position.
We are a pretty physical team hoping that all pays off down the road as the season gets longer

We’ve basically faded every single season for as long as I can remember

Last year Bain carrying our team caught up to us just from a physicality standpoint

Don’t do that. You know **** well what @Dwinstitles means. I don’t agree (I do wish we did though) we need an elite defense. An average defense would get the job done.

We are *** juice that’s been sitting in the sun fermenting for a week on defense. Without the cupcakes (USF, Ball St, FAMU) our defense would probably be 110 or worse.

Yup the defense has zero chance of being elite this year, but can certainly improve. Like, we shoulda won this game by 3 scores today even after all the crazy **** but we gave up 4 4th down conversions (1 on fake punt) on their last two drives

Woulda been nice to not give up that KR TD and play with that 14 point lead

Not gonna make any **** excuses for the defense but making a team more one dimensional throwing the ball would probably help

Add the fake punt

Yup playing with 2+ score lead in 2nd half is when you'll see this defense play as well as they can, but the paradox is they're so bad that it's hard to get to that point in conference play lol.

To be clear, the D wasn't good today but silver linings - we did get a turnover and scored points on it, played more guys than we did against Cal (and many of the subs played ok I thought and guys like #20/21/32 should see starter minutes going forward I think), and they only gave up 1 play of more than 30 yards.

I just hate how those last 2 drives ended up. Like they were doing what we've been begging them to do - bend but don't break, but just couldn't get off the field on 4th down.

I don’t expect our defense to be great. I’ll even take being less athletic/slow etc… but there’s been plenty of times for us to just tackle the guys when we make first contact. There was a play where Malik Bryant just tackled chaney(play he got hurt I think) for like a 2 yard game that usually becomes a 8 yard gash. Despite all of the crap if we just tackled when we do make contact; would help so much. My hopes moving forward: hold teams under 30. If we do that I think we win a lot. Also would love to see Z pat play over Harris and pray we get damari brown back soon. I think that could help quite a bit.

Clemson has a top offense on paper

Clemson has also played dog ****. Their top 2 wins are versus teams that started a freshman QB for the first time.

Yes, this defense will cost them win.

Don't make Clemson out be to unbeatable.

All can be true.
They gave up 31 to UVA today

Man it’s always something with this team, even when they win!!!! We are finally 7-0 with literally the #1 offense and the Heisman front runner. So what happens? Our defense becomes the worst we have probably seen since the 70s. I’m talking worse than Dorito bad.
I think those Al Golden defenses with AJ Highsmith at safety and Josh Holmes on the DL were worse, but not by much. Also our 1984 (Jimmy's first year) defense was horrifically bad and cost us 5 games despite Bernie and co.

Yeah I forgot about the 2012 defense.

32 to Boston college
52 to Kansas State
36 to Georgia Tech
37 to NC State
33 to FSU
41 to Virginia
45 to Duke

I posted during the game that College Gameday had us playing Tennessee or OSU as it stood if the CFP were to start today. Can you imagine how many points their OSU receivers would score on the band of Keystone cops we have running around out there?

Tennessee would smash us I think but we’d have to beg for a running clock after halftime against OSU….Guidry got to do something even if it’s changing out everyone and give the backups a shot to see what they can do…or going to all out blitzing and taking your chances you can get or hurrying the QB in to TO’s or incomplete passes…cause what they’re doing now just ain’t working…

Did anyone really think this team was winning a Natty this year before this game? Does anyone look at the roster of the Canes against the rosters of the elite (Texas, Georgia, OSU, etc.) and say "yeah, just as good"?

It is quite apparent that '24 Miami is '23 FSU. A flawed team getting by on a mixture of luck and great QB play (please stay healthy Cam). Where Miami is different than FSU is the team is being built by stacking recruiting classes so hopefully '25 Miami avoids becoming '24 FSU.

I am disappointed in the DL play today and it seems like the secondary is not improving at all. But ****, just enjoy the ride. The future is bright.
16-0
