We shouldn't self-impose another post-season ban

Based on the recent scandals at other schools, I'd be surprised if we got hit with a second bowl ban. UCF's ATHLETIC DIRECTOR was complicit in the wrong-doing AND he tried to plead ignorance of the rules. That's a double no-no. Despite it, they only got hit with a one-year bowl ban. And EVEN IF we got another bowl ban, I'd rather have it next year than this year. We're poised to have a better year in 2013, but this is a very crucial recruiting class. Self-imposing another bowl ban could hurt our recruiting momentum. I'm sure we've been telling kids that the worst of the scandal is behind us. A second self-imposed bowl ban could be a cause for concern for recruits. Besides, I don't think we're contenders next year. Losing a bowl game next year won't hurt as much as potentially hurting the 2013 recruiting class, and missing out on valuable big-game experience (as well as additional practices). If we miraculously won the ACC, there is NO WAY we should miss out on playing in that game.

Let the chips fall where they may.

My guess is we only lose the bowl game we already sat out.

I just don't see the upside of sitting out a bowl game this year.

We ain't contenders next year. I think 2014 is the first year where you can really start looking at us as contenders.

This 2013 recruiting class is HUGE. I wouldn't want to do anything to disturb that.

How would it look to Matthew Thomas if we're telling him we skate, and then all of a suddenly we're sitting out another bowl game?

By no means do I think we only get 1 bowl ban. Believe me I hope we do, but I dont see the NCAA doin it especially how we all know they see us

We skate, shun!

Even if we get a 2nd bowl ban, I'd rather lose it next year than lose it this year and potentially **** up with any 2013 recruits.

LOL I got my figers crossed knee-grow, I jus know how the NCAA is and wants to do us dirty.

I can see them stickin it to us and "making an example of us"

We can talk about how the "NCAA hates us" and all that ****, but it's better for college football when we're good. We give the ACC credibility if we're good, and we always get ratings.

The Committee on Infractions hired Paul Dee when all of this scandalous Nevin Shapiro **** was happening, so they must've thought we had strong compliance measures in place.

They ain't gonna make an example out of us. If they wanted to make an example out of anyone, it would've been UNC with their academic scandal.

I'd take the second bowl ban this season.

I just wouldn't risk disturbing our recruiting class this year. This might be the most important class Golden will have. After this, the pall of sanctions will be lifted.

Plus, I think we'd have to forgo the ACCCG if we're being truly proactive.

If we were going to take a second post-season ban, we should've done it at the beginning of the season. There's no point in waiting.

I dont see how taking this bowl ban would hurt recruiting???? If anything wouldnt the recruits breath a sigh of relief knowing the NCAA BS is done and over with?

I mean every recruit and there momma knows we got sanctions, so I dont see this coming as a huge suprise to them if we did....

How would taking a 2nd bowl ban make them breathe a sigh of relief?

IMO the uncertainty of the sanctions is actually worse than the sanctions we're going to get. We have our own FANS on this board talmbout we gonna lose 3 bowl games and ****. You know teams are negative-recruiting the **** out of us.

We can be like, "The worst of the sanctions are behind us. We already sat out a bowl game last year. Don't worry about anything."

But if we sit out another bowl game, it's like, "Hey remember when we said don't worry? Okay NOW you don't have to worry because we took a second bowl ban."

And again, the bans are for post-season, so does that mean we should forgo the ACCCG?

LOL Because there gonna come in and know they have the oppertunity to play in a bowl 4 yrs, rather than come in next year and sit out because we didnt self impose this yr.......

Okay but how will they know the 2nd bowl ban means that? Coaches are negative-recruiting us, and some people think we're actually going to lose 3-4 bowl games (dumb **** like that is everywhere). Jeremy Kerr said he's committed to Miami unless his scholarship gets taken away because of the sanctions. LULZ that **** don't even work like that.

Bottom line is people don't follow the Canes like we do. They don't follow college football like we do. They don't know what the **** is going on.

Perception is reality. If we all of a suddenly take another bowl ban, it looks bad.

If we were so concerned about taking another bowl ban, we should've done it at the beginning of the season. You don't have to be bowl-eligible for the bowl ban to take effect. You just have to be in bowl contention when you self-impose. We should've done it at the beginning of the season.

And again, do we skip the ACCCG?

What if we win the ACCCG? Do we skip the ORANGE BOWL?

I say we play it out.

I think in order to answer this question you need to have a better knowledge of what kind of penalty we are looking at

Problem is we won't know that before the ACCCG.

Take the medicine now. The goal should be to be clear by the new bowl playoff format in 2014.
