We shouldn't self-impose another post-season ban

Self imposing makes no sense. We're not going to get hit hard enough by the NCAA that it's going to make much of a difference regardless. Oh great we might get 5 schollies less over 3 years if we're lucky. We *might* lose another bowl game, which likely won't be a BCS bowl anyways when we have that opportunity this year. OSU and UNC only got a 1 year bowl ban, so I don't see why we'd feel the need to ban ourselves a 2nd time anyways.

You take the opportunity to get revenge on FSU in the ACCCG and make a BCS bowl, which in turn could make a huge impact on recruiting. It would be incredibly stupid to do otherwise.
What if they decide to hit us with 2 yrs then? It would be an epic **** up, and then the whole board would be up in arms over why we didnt take it SMH

USC didn't even get hit with 3 bowl bans so why should I expect us to?

Who said 3? Im talking 2

I think having to sit out 2013 isn't as damaging to the team's psyche as ripping their hearts out after winning the Coastal. Plus, there are the potential recruiting ramifications I mentioned.

Honestly, the only way I'd be ****ed about missing a bowl next year is if we're BCS title contenders.

Otherwise, meh.

So you guys are assuming our '13 team isnt gonna be better than this years team?

They're gonna be better, but not title contenders.

And again, I don't think we get a second bowl ban.
So your saying we have a better shot of winning out with this team than with our '13 unit?

Explain, cause its not making sense to me......

We will self impose again, if it's bad for the program.

It's not a coincidence, the number of awful, rotten decisions made by certain University Presidents regarding this team.

We will be much better in 2013. We lose 2 starters, James and McGee. Another year in the system and weight room. I think we actually could be labeled as good next year.

Who the **** will ever remember backing into the ACC title game in 2012? Don't get me wrong, I will be **** proud of this team for winning the coastal. We ain't the Miami of old, so any accomplishment is great at this point.

But the ACC is as bad as the Big East at this point and in the grand scheme of things winning the conference title this year means nothing if we have to sit out the 2013 and 2014 bowl games.

First, we didn't back into ****. We haven't even got there yet, we haven't 2 games left in the ACC. If somehow we go 6-2 in the ACC, I would take it.

Second, for a team that is so young, winning the ACC Coastal would be huge for the future (Psyche). So it is a big deal, considering we never won the Coastal or the ACC for that matter. Nothing is guaranteed in the future or now. While I truly believe Al will get us there, getting a rematch with FSU would be a tremendous thing in Al's second year.

Third, I think I am one of the only people on this site that admits we don't have the information and we don't have a clue what is going on with the investigation. Everyone on this site is so confident with their responses, I don't get it. If I represent a client without any facts, I will be a shoe-in for malpractice. We literally have ZERO information besides what the media and their unnamed "sources" claim.

Finally, NO TEAM HAS EVER SELF-IMPOSED A SECOND POST SEASON BAN. That doesn't mean we shouldn't impose a ban, it just means that no one has done it. I think the way Miami has handled the investigation has been incredible (proactive and cooperative), I trust this administration will continue to handle it properly.

I am not saying we shouldn't discuss this on a message board, I just don't get people's confidence in their answers without information.

You are overstating what this would mean for our psyche. It is not a big deal. And we would be backing into the game as technically UNC would have won the division if we end up tied 6-2(assuming they win out). And like I said, I will be proud as **** of this team if they go 8-4, 6-2. But playing in the ACC game has little meaning compared to our potential future. As far as our pshcye goes, I think self-banning would put a huge chip on our players' shoulders and have them motivated to get back to the game they earned this year.

You keep going on and on about "we don't have information and don't have a clue what is going on with the investigaton". Well, SOMETHING is going on and lets not be naive...we are going to be receiving some type of punishment. A program isn't investigated this long without some repercussions in the works. And the potential of violations is big, whether we agree with it or not. If even one-third of the supposed accusations are proven, then it won't be good. Yeah it was a rogue booster out of control, but it went on for what, 8 years??? NCAA ain't gon' be happy about that.

And you're right, no team has ever self-imposed a second post season ban...this could be the right time to be the first to do it. Again, I refer to Ohio State. What if they self-imposed last year? They'd be in the hunt for the BCS title game. Now, they can't play for ****.

For a team that has NEVER won the coastal. For a team predicted by some in the media to win 4 games and be last in the conference. For a team that gets **** on by the fans. For a team that is incredibly young and won't quit...getting to the coastal and 6-2 would be tremendous. In fact it would be an incredible task. In fact this week you have the freshman like Rashawn Jenkins claiming how huge it would be to win the ACC Coastal and get the opportunity to play FSU again. The players know, it is irrelevant if the fans don't.

Again with backing into the game. Miami and UNC are not 6-2. Forgetting that UNC is disqualified from the post season, neither is the division leader at the end of the year yet. Now UNC, just like us, has 3 **** opponents in front of them. Both teams should get to 6-2 but who knows. No one backed in yet. No one has won the Coastal yet either.

You are right "something" is going on. No ****, I know there is stuff going on. I have no idea how big and we're not going to discuss each allegation at this time and the evidence behind it so stop right there. We don't need another thread on each allegation. Something will happen and no one knows. We will have to wait on the sanctions.

Now as for OSU, they had nothing to play for last year and should have self imposed a ban. There is a big difference between us NOW and them last year. A tremendous difference between missing one irrelevant bowl game and us deciding to miss a second postseason (bowl ban) along with deciding to give up our first chance to play in the ACC Champ Game. We never have done this, OSU was not going to play in any big game last year.

Miami = Something to play for this year AND already imposed a post season ban

OSU = Nothing to play for last year and didn't impose a a ban

Miami and OSU are not similar.

Miami, yes our team, has never got to the ACC Game before. That is a fact. We are not guaranteed an opportunity this year, or next year or the year after that. That is fact. We have two ACC games left, that is fact.

One final thing we haven't (according to the news sites) received is our Notice of Allegations. After we do, then I think it would be a better indicator on what to self-impose and if to self-impose another ban.

We win the ACCCG, we play the Orange. We lose it, we impose. If you think Shalala gives a flying **** about football, you're delusional. Cash and her own reputation. That's the calculus.

Can't do that.

The ACC Championship Game is considered the "post-season"...if you impose a ban, you impose an entire post-season ban, not just a championship game and then forego a bowl game. Sounds great...but, it isn't how it works or will work.

We've already imposed one bowl ban, so 2 more would make it 3. Not worried about 3 bowl bans at all.

Don't worry your *** about that. I'll tell you how things work.
