Lane is easily the best coach on the market. 10-2/second place in the hardest division in CFB. First round QB. The way he plugged defensive holes in just one year through the transfer portal, JUCO, and recruiting was A+.

First year, he'd win us the ACC Coastal. If we get literally 2-3 consistent years of winning the Coastal and competing for the ACC championship, crooting will easily take care of itself. We have been a literal average, .500 program for 15 years. We've never strung together two good seasons in that time period. Lane would have us rolling.

To me it seems like we're gonna have to tickle Mario's balls, beg him and pay him a ton of money to come here. Whereas Lane wants to be here.
Facts.
But I think some of that is the difference in their personalities. From those who know, Mario want sot settle someplace where he believes he can be successful for the long(er) term. Whereas Lane wants to win big and continue to move up the coaching ranks. Maybe UM is a destination job for him, or maybe it's just where he will be for 3-4 years.
Neither view is wrong but they create a different mentality as to how bad the coach wants the job.

Mario=prove to me UM that you have the finances for long term success
Lane=i can win now and continue to ascend, possibly back to the NFL, or to Bama when Saint Nick finally retires.

Exactly. 20 years of builders running the program into the ground. Give me someone who will build us back up and leave it in fantastic shape for the next guy.
I like the concept, just don't think Lane has any track record of leaving things much better, save for FAU......but maybe he is doing that in Ole Miss now. I read the posts and i go back and forth.

Maybe? They just had their BEST regular season in program history lol. Tennessee also went 5-7 the year before he got there, his first season they went 7-6. Along with FAU, as you mentioned.

I think Lane is easily the better coach but them recruiting rankings are rough. How do you have the #38 recruiting class with 10 wins? I figured a bunch of offensive players would be lining up to play in Kiffen’s offense. I understand it’s Ole Miss but Freeze even had kids wanting to come there(slipping bags helps but still). Kiffin had the #17 recruiting class last year despite only a 5-5 record so that’s intriguing but I’m confused by this season so far. Are there just a bunch of kids that haven’t popped for them yet that there in for? I’m definitely intrigued by the staff he could pull at Miami. Hoping he gets a defensive coordinator worth a **** because the one he has now sucks. Be nice if he could get Muschamp here. Somebody that knows how to recruit and could fix these **** LBs.

Mario is a great recruiter and seems like the odds on favorite that every booster is connected to(at least it feels like). He’s an alum and has gotten Oregon back to being a relevant school. I just question his actual in game coaching. Their OL isn’t very impressive despite him being an OL coach. Utah manhandled them for 4 quarters. He’s done well at Oregon but just think Lane is a better coach and will make TVD and future QBs 1st round picks.

Orange Bowl is one of the playoff sites so they will probably get Sugar Bowl bid if I had to guess.

Good guess, but they only said that seven hundred and two times last night during the broadcast.

Just messing with you. Maybe you didn't watch, but it was brought up plenty of times that they were hopeful for a Sugar Bowl berth.

I don't think Kiffin wants anything to do with the SEC. He's not a country boy and doesn't mesh with that culture.

He's probably aiming for the NFL (or maybe not - they did burn him badly), but in College he's after a destination job on a warm coast somewhere.

Dude you wrote leaves our program in "great shape" i think. Lets see but only FAU qualifies. Tennessee was nothing. Ole Miss is definitely trending that way. But Lane doesn't seem like he builds **** that lasts after him. He's the secret sauce. Its not building that lasts.

I’m not sure where Lane would go from Miami tbh. What colleges does he go too? Won’t be Alabama IMO. Saban will get a strong voice in who his successor is and I can’t see him picking Lane. Perhaps a scenario where Dabo goes to Bama and Clemson tries hiring Lane? ND isn’t hiring Lane. USC is off the table. He isn’t jumping to a LSU/TX type program if he has success at Miami and is paid well.

As for the NFL, that seems like a long shot to me. He is an unstable dude and I don’t know if he would get another shot. Urban and Rhule aren’t exactly helping the cause of hiring from the college ranks. I think Lane would **** near have to win a ring at Miami to get another shot at the NFL. If that happens, I’ll throw him a goodbye parade.

I assume he wants to get back to the NFL. But maybe it won‘t be for a few years. Lane just seems like a restless personality. But yes if the NFL means he won big at UM we will be happy to send him off.

We can provide a destination job on a warm coast, with blue water.
