Watching the gator game

How many sacks did FLorida have against Toledo today?

Causing quick and erratic throws are just as effective as sacks.

oh ok..... yeah Miami's D-line didnt do that last night on top of getting 5 sacks huh?

BTW I saw a Toledo QB who had time to throw a number of different times throughout the game, he just cant throw.

The guy missed a bunch of wide open guys, you gotta call it how you see it and one can't deny that. I'm one those posters that will criticize our Canes if I see reason to do so, and abouttheu is crazy if he can't see that UF looked kinda suspect on defense. WR were open and at times the QB had all day to throw. It is what it is.

Both teams had suspect moments but it's Miami who is fighting to take the next step, not Florida. It's time to show it on a big stage, and as much as I want to believe its put up or shut up time. If Miami is botching or dropping the opportunities they get next week like they have in recent past it will be another bad weekend.

I watch bits and pieces of the game. Gator can run the ball. Give them that. But if I'm D'onofrio ill stuff the box and dare driskell to throw. That's how bad UF's WR corp is.

A game against Toledo isn't the reference point. Florida is a rugged team, with a defense that has finished 11th or higher nationally for 5 consecutive seasons in yards allowed per play. That's what we're dealing with. There are distinct levels in college football and it's extremely difficult to budge the next tier up. Returning starters or lack of same is seldom enough to make a difference.

The SEC programs, in particular, do not allow cheap yards or points. They emphasize pass defense on all levels far beyond any other conference. You can't throw underneath and ramble for a cheap first down, like the soft Big 12. Manziel last year stunned Alabama by making plays downfield. Missouri is always a soft bubble screen team so naturally they were butchered within the SEC.

In Las Vegas I always focus on physical superiority that isn't reflected in the pointspread. You get plenty of them early in the season. That's what troubles me about our matchup next week. I've posted the theme many times throughout the offseason. I realize it isn't popular. The idea is not to nitpick every game and make subjective judgements but to apply a formula that will succeed 56 or 57% or higher. In this case I believe Florida's opportunity is probably understated, by fan and media consensus and also the pointspread. They lined up and mauled FSU last season on the road as a 7 point underdog. No doubt they'll explore that option again, testing our front. Benefit of a doubt to the SEC. It seldom fails, even when I hope it does.

Obviously I hope I'm wrong. For one thing, this game potentially has 20 years of implications. I laugh at the Gators every day but it would be surreal to have a win in the pocket, and with them refusing to schedule us. Gator fans would never hear the end of it. Jeremy Foley would look like a wimp and a fool. I could mock and annoy the Gator posters on national boards exponentially more than I do now. I've even had internal thoughts of our public address announcer needling the Gators at game's end by saying we look forward to next year's meeting in Gainesville...whoops, we forgot who we are dealing with.

Sites already went to ****. Bunch of puzziez " im scared , we cant hang with ol bad $EC florida". My god, this game is very winnable. Turn in your fugin man card.... while your at your cane card. Fakes

I hear you about that, but its a new year and lets not act that before their big year last year, UF wasn't a 6-6 team and that they didn't get exposed by UL in the Sugar Bowl. Hey, they looked very solid in the opening quarter and it looked like they were gonna run away with it, but jumped the gun. As the game went on Toledo settled in a bit and tried to make a game of it. The game I watched had open WRs running in UF's vaunted secondary and their DL outside of Easley wasn't all that effective. Yes we looked sloppy ourselves and I think our fans overrate our team, but if Toledo's WR and OL can do their thing, I have faith that we could also.

No doubt, and we actually have the horses up front to pull it off this year. I keep telling myself "it was FAU" but **** that, we looked like a D1 defensive line physically for the first time in a long time. FAU would have scored 24 on us last year.

I am not concerned about what UF did today
The team will watch more film then just today's game
And the team will prepare and be ready to strap it up

The good thing is that watching our film we look a lot better on defense we seemed to be getting push on our line AQM is the real deal
Our linebackers are good and secondary was decent even with bush not being there
We will be ready but will they

Our offense had some hick ups but I think we ready
I know one or more Wrs will step it up and we will be ready

I agree about the D. The way the line held up, improved depth, much better communication, better tackling. Just overall happy with what I saw on that side of the ball and if they can continue improving with the offense playing to its capability.........then this team will take the next step.

Will NEVER accept that we can't beat the gators - EVER. F slurping them and anyone who is. H3LL Shannon almost beat them in gainesville. We'll be ready.

Never said or thought Miami couldn't win, I know they have the ability to. They need to prove they are ready for the big stage again though.

Just give them a chance to prove themselves THIS YEAR. No one thought Notre Dame would have came close to a 12-1 because of recent history. They hadn't won a big game in about 10 years before last season & they won big games (Stanford, USC, & Oklahoma). Every team has a starting point when they are trying to rebuild greatness. Could we have been running a very vanilla offense & defense last night in preparation for uf?

Nothing wrong with people having opposing views but some of y'all make it seem like we don't stand a chance or something **** that! This is the statement game we've been saying it all off-season. If I were in Vegas I'd confidently put my chips on the Canes with a conviction like it ain't ****. We pre-mature in what we say about these college player's. High school is different you can judge the kids because at the high school level you expect domination. In college everyone is strong, fast, big, or tall. It'll be a low scoring game.

With that being said I got Miami winning the game.

For the doubters take advice from my manz Al Golden and "Just relax bro"

The opportunity is there, gotta take it.

Not a lot of people have been talking about it, but I thought Justin Renfrow looked really good out there. All 3 of our new comers looked good. I defintly think coach D & Golden have worked hard to improve the defense.

I saw the UF game... They pretty much played consistent the entire game... No big plays on offense but it was efficient... The didn't take too many chances but maybe they're trying to build confidence among their backs... Muschamp already conceded that they are a ground and pound squad... As for their defense, I do not think they were suspect... They held a 1500 yard back to 50 yards and made a pretty steady qb unproductive... They played their young guys and miscues were apparent but for the most part they were productive...

In regards to our team, our defense is improved...I was a bit disappointed and the amount of guys running wide open but there were a lot more positives... Personally, outside of 1 person I do not think our secondary is exceptional... I'm not big on Gunter and I believe improvements is needed as we go on during the season... Fortunately we may not see a prolific passing game until about week 6... And we were a bit undisciplined... Kehoe needs to tighten up... Our oline struggled at times with a vastly undersized FAU dline... We couldnt get a push on 4th and inches... We're stronger but I'm afraid we do not have any technique or necessary fundamentals... Duke had a great game but when he's to the outside the only thing that can stop him is himself... That kid is unbelievable... Based off his resume alone he'll be our first 1st round draft pick since 08...

Outside of those issues I think we played zone better and I believed we tackled much better... I do not recall any missed tackles... I liked Figatron, kid is going to be good... Burns is a natural... He's young but his future is bright... I think the linebackers did well and we ganged tackled a lot.... We're bigger but I'm a bit worried that our speed has been compromised a bit for size... I don't think we are a top 25 defense but I believe we're good enough for top 60... We're improving and thats a positive... I remember BCU last year accumulated over 300 yards on us and that was terrible, but this year we're much better... As for offense, I'm a Morris fan but he has to remain focus throughout the game... He had a few early td drops but then he had his brain farts... I'm all for him holding everyone accountable but if he's running up in the faces of players he can't be forcing throws either... I truly believe this team is good enough for 9 games...

AbouttheU05 just stop...You were crownin Floridas Oline after 1 quarter..Second half they have 10 carries for 14 yards..Toledo is playing two freshman at D Line..just gracefully bow out.... Their Oline and DLine Look very average excpet for Ronald Powell. Theyve given up 3 sacks and Driskel fumbled two of them.. They dont look good

Ok time number 20, I'm not crowning anyone. It's automatic for most of you to avoid a legit conversation about it. Never said Florida was great, never said Miami would get blown out, but the truth is that Miami is the one trying to take the next step while Florida just finished an 11-1 season. There were mental miscues and an overall level of assertiveness that lacked against FAU to me. For time number twenty, they have the ability to play better and beat Florida, but anyone who thinks they are going to win missing opportunities and failing short yardage against a stout defense and ball control running game is high.

The point is if you want to measure Miami by the FAU game, then you have to measure UF by the Toledo game...and UF did not look any better than Miami in their game.

The FAU game is fed off of performances in big games recently, not so much that FAU I some kind of measuring stick.
