Worst two year stretch for the program since the 70's

Multi-million dollar budget deficit for the athletic program

Willie Taggart on a $5M/year salary with 5 years remaining

Buyout is 85% of whatever is left on his contract

Jimbo left them with nothing at QB or OL

I knew things were bad, but holy **** this is on another level. With FSU fcvked for the foreseeable future, this makes the UF game even bigger than it already is. Establish ourselves as top dog in Florida in year 1 of Diaz's reign and the road is paved perfectly to finally become a powerhouse once again.

The Jimbo left them nothing argument is just ridiculous in my opinion. His roster had the blue chip ratio of a title contender, including at both QB and OL. They were like top 5 in team talent composite when he took over.
That OL is a hot mess. It doesn't get like that in the span of one year. For all the good Jameis and Cook did them it seems they were the bubble gum and bandaids holding everything together the past 4 years.

I don't recall a question being asked in the OP. There is literally not one question that was asked. Great first post though!
Lol. The title of the thread is a question.

And while I'd like to see this dark era last as long as possible, they're not going to allow Willie to stick around if he keeps it up. Somehow these big public schools always find the money to buyout the contract and blow even more on the next coach. That's why it's best to hope for a 7 or 8 win season in Trailerhassee. Good enough to keep Willie employed for at least another year but still pretty bad for the overall health of their program.

Yes, but it was an extremely talented hot mess.

Willie Taggart - 52-57 for his career as HC

Never won a bowl game & has only won 10 games ONCE in his entire career.

FSU really lucked up hiring him, I hope he gets an extension & stays there for the next decade.

Their talent level has been overrated for years, all of those highly ranked recruiting classes are littered w/ bust after bust. I think they had like 2 guys drafted this past year, straight pitiful for having all of those supposed 4-5 stars

Not a fan of Jimbo, but it's amazing the spin you get from the FSU faithful that Jimbo left them with a **** roster. They're OL wasn't the best, but we've seen other programs move on from a coach and quickly develop the talent that they had. Also, Jimbo at least left Willie with Francois who was a decent QB. It's not Jimbo's fault that for two straight cycles in a row that FSU couldn't land a QB.

FSU hiring Taggart was one of the best things that happened to our program over the past decade. I also don't think Mullen is as good as our fanbase try to make him out to be. Reality is about to set in up in Gainesville very soon. The hiring of these two overrated coaches were a godsend for us!

Lack of development at the latter of Jimbo's tenure bridging well into Willie's tenure is the reason. There is no singular blame, but for FSU to keep hanging Jimbo out to dry does little for them. And in college football, there's no honor amongst thieves - meaning that no other school in the country's going to feel sorry for them.

F$U has/had talent, but within that talent, they didn't recruit any leaders or dogs,.....only self-motivated, privileged diva's.
