Utough Weight Room results for DEFENSE

I don't get the pedestrian verticals throughout this team. Also, how does a guy have a 4" drop in a vert?

Either an injury that we don't know about. excessive weight gain, or the original numbers were lies. A guy just don't lose 4 inches of vert in a few months!

Man our linebackers should look the part this year. Extremely excited to see what McCord can do in a full-time role.

Defensive line is a little disappointing. Perryman is stronger than all of them.

**** Owens and Young are strong af being that they should still be in high school right now. That's what I like to see. Already cleaning more than half the team.

That right there just further proves that what Swasey has been doing is not working. Young and Owens should not be stronger then 3/4 of the defense

Here is the way I look at these things. The numbers can be great, the numbers can suck, the numbers can be true, the numbers can be false...it doesn't matter. Use your eyes, do you like what you see?

I am not posting this to bash or support the Staff, I am just explaining that these numbers are just numbers. It is not the real issue if a players weight room numbers go up or down (off the field), the real question is whether the player is improving on the field.

I understand the weight room is part of improving on the field, but show players making plays and you will see what matters.

Well the kids did just go thru a football season, where you generally don't weight train like you would during the summer, followed by a break from everything following football season before jumping back into workouts before spring. The NCAA does have rules to how much the kids can train.

Just a thought, but could the decreases and minimal gains have anything to do with the fact that last year these guys had an extra month of off-season lifting and getting healthy instead of practicing and preparing for a bowl game like this year? The season was 5 months long, which takes a toll on the body, and most guys lose weight and strength the longer the season wears on.
It's not like there's any secret to these lifts that Swasey could ***** up. As long as guys are doing them and pushing themselves, they should see results.

Tyriq McCord made one of the biggest jumps on the team, going from a 435-pound squat to 535. And his power clean went from 274 to 301 while his bench went from 330 to 350. On top of that his vertical improved from 35.5 inches to 37. And his body weight increased almost 10 pounds spring to spring, to close to 230 pounds.

kid is gonna be problem if used right..

False. Swasey is the only coach who can be with players year round. That's why S&C Coaches are one of the most important hires for a HC. We have a sociology professor as our head S&C leader.... The guys résumé is a complete joke!
