Urban/(J. Battle) news

It's bad judgment, period. Meyer's own wife was scared of Smith, but Meyer still kept him on while telling his players there was "zero tolerance" for domestic violence. He only fired the guy once the media found out, and he kept lying to the media until McMurphy pulled the receipts.

His success has eroded his judgment and sense of consequences. If OSU keeps him, it's only a matter of time before he falls into another scandal. And that scandal will make OSU look like a football-first institution that buried its head in the sand.

So what’s your prediction on this outcome?

It'll be a negotiated settlement. He'll probably get 12-14 million and walk away. That kind of money would cripple a private institution, but since it is a state school the taxpayers will somehow end up footing the bill for a coach's bad decision.
Schools firing 'for cause' look to be blatant attempts to wiggle out of big buyouts

Here's my dilemma: would it make me happier if OSU went after Taggart to fill the vacancy, or should I be happier to see Taggart stay at FSU and tank the program?
Win ,Win situation.

This is how I see it. From everything I have read, Urban actually hasn’t done anything wrong besides really bad judgement of character. That in itself doesn’t validate a firing.

Calling this a mere "bad judgment of character" by Meyer seems to minimize what happened here. But even so, when your bad judgment of character opens up your business/organization/university to legitimate public scrutiny, that absolutely "validates" a firing. In particular where your contract has a morals clause and a clause that requires you to report instances of "intimate violence" involving staff. And especially when you are in a leadership position over young men.

Why do you think OSU would target a Taggart?

Because dude apparently can sell ice to an Eskimo. He keeps getting hired by bigger and bigger programs without any actual accomplishments to speak for. FSU was bigger than Oregon, Ohio State is bigger than FSU. If the trend holds, he'll be one and done at FSU and Columbus bound.

There has been more than enough evidence made available to the public to warrant Meyer's firing. Not even factoring in the evidence that we will likely never know about. That said, OSU has a very tough decision to make because if they can him, the millions of Suckeye fans are going to go ape&hit. If they only slap him on the wrist, they will be slammed as a football-first, sleazy school that is just like the 'low-life SEC schools' that they love to throw stones at. It will be terrible PR.

Only way they escape with the least blowback from either side is to suspend Meyer for the entire season (8+ games at a minimum). This way, he's not fired so Bucknut idiots will be happy, but they make the 'strong' statement to the entire world that they are willing to write off this football season for the sake of integrity.

I don't even think he will have to fall into another scandal. We all know that there are probably another 15 undisclosed scandals involving Urban Meyer that have been buried deep in the cow pastures outside of Columbus. All it takes is for one of those skeleton bones to be brought to light, and as karma works - it's only a matter of time before another one surfaces.

And that's probably what has Urban scared the most, because he knows if he's lucky enough to skate this one he will be on a very, very short leash.

Let's just say that anyone with any dirt on Urban is sitting on some **** good blackmail leverage right about now! Not that I condone that type of thinking... LOL

Going to be interesting to see what Mcmurphy has left under his hat.I got a feeling he is just waiting for OSU to let Meyer off before he rolls out the good stuff.

That screws over Meyer and makes OSU look like they looked the other way..a win/win for everyone not dressed in Scarlett and Grey.

Yep. McMurphy holding some cards until a decision is made one way or the other. Waiting to release some or all of what he has until after a decision will have a far greater impact.

Anyone else see the cb’s for battle to Florida? Any reason why those were put in? Seemed random

I doubt OSU offers.

Why do you seem like you care if their fan base is hurt again?

OSU fan I know in Ohio claims Bob Stoops in waiting to take over should Liar be fired. Not sure where he heard it. I think he’ll just get suspended a few games. We’ll find out soon.
Bob Stoops isn't coaching again. With the way his father died, he's not trying to put his family through that.

Looking at our depth chart at safey I can't believe Battle hasn't flipped yet.We graduate JJ and Redwine and with Finley and Smith now at LB/striker all we return in 2019 is Carter,Hall and Knowles and whoever we sign this year.Guys like Battle and Stevenson are an injury away from starting.
Keontra Smith is the man......watch......

To be crystal clear, I hope Meyer is run over by a truck. Twice.

I hate OSU and their entire fan base so nothing would make me happier than to see their football program incinerated.
