Urban/(J. Battle) news

I highly doubt Urban is fired. They will owe him somewhere around 24 million I heard on the radio.

It'll be a negotiated settlement. He'll probably get 12-14 million and walk away. That kind of money would cripple a private institution, but since it is a state school the taxpayers will somehow end up footing the bill for a coach's bad decision.
Schools firing 'for cause' look to be blatant attempts to wiggle out of big buyouts

Here's my dilemma: would it make me happier if OSU went after Taggart to fill the vacancy, or should I be happier to see Taggart stay at FSU and tank the program?

Patiently waiting to see if he does get the boot. One could hope so, and hope it puts a halt on some other school taking recruits from sfl

If he turned over the information as he said he did back in 2015, then do they have just cause? What exactly did Urban do besides retain and sleeve all coach and lie to the media? Just trying to look at both sides because I want him fired, but I think he will only be suspended a few games.

Agree, and may just be a game suspension in my opinion.
Based on what I’ve read .....
In 2015 the police apparently knew first and actually alerted the school. Nothing for Meyer to do as to 2015 incident.
Also seems that Meyer followed protocol in 2009.
At best Meyer misstated matters to the media but he also quickly though cryptically corrected that in a tweet (likely per advice of his legal counsel).
Also need to be mindful that as to the WR coach it’s “allegations” and nothing has actually been proven or adjudicated by a judge stating there was actual domestic abuse.
Now if the investigation reveals something else then it could get interesting.

Shouldn't the coach at least been put on administrative leave or something when the police notified the school, if in fact they did?

plenty of guilty people have never set foot in a jail cell.
Just because smith wasn’t convicted it should have nothing to do with firing him for cause especially if more embarrassing or incriminating stuff is in McMurphy’s chamber that at this point will come out regardless; unless he has a deal with the school and a new gig at the sec nut hugger network.
Urbs lawyers might have something to say about that and that’s why there will probably be an undisclosed settlement.
The school will also fire the AD and say wonderful things about myer before he leaves.
The methadone addicts in the heartland will have a big kumbaya and then go off on Twitter and talk radio.

Why do you think OSU would target a Taggart?

This is how I see it. From everything I have read, Urban actually hasn’t done anything wrong besides really bad judgement of character. That in itself doesn’t validate a firing.

It's bad judgment, period. Meyer's own wife was scared of Smith, but Meyer still kept him on while telling his players there was "zero tolerance" for domestic violence. He only fired the guy once the media found out, and he kept lying to the media until McMurphy pulled the receipts.

His success has eroded his judgment and sense of consequences. If OSU keeps him, it's only a matter of time before he falls into another scandal. And that scandal will make OSU look like a football-first institution that buried its head in the sand.

2 game suspension max.

That's funny you say that, cause I happened to run into a good friend of mine yesterday, that is unfortunately a huge Suckeye (I went to the 2003 Fiesta Bowl with him, worst night of my life), relatively plugged in to Columbus - I asked him about Liar, he said two game suspension. I laughed, but nothing would surprise me.

OSU fan I know in Ohio claims Bob Stoops in waiting to take over should Liar be fired. Not sure where he heard it. I think he’ll just get suspended a few games. We’ll find out soon.

Look at their options:
Two games = back before TCU
Four games = back before Penn State
Eight games = back before Michigan St
Regular season = back before conference championship & bowl game
Won't coach a game this season = back before signing day

Lots of options there.

Did u guys see that b.s. on their boards about their writer staying in contact with recruits & their families? Said they ALL want him back, parents included. If their fans (who pay the bills) & recruits want him back & continue to support him, that's that. He's staying. Every fanbase & media outlet in the country hates him but as long as their fans & future players still love him, why would they care?
If he screws up again they'll cross that bridge at that time, fire everyone THEN & start the cycle all over again. What a joke.

That already happened when he was at UF. It was common knowledge that he lost control of that program when Spikes and Tebow left. The inmates ran the asylum. Maybe that's what you meant anyway cause I agree that implosion is/was always inevitable with Meyer.

Yeah. Now that the target is on him, another implosion would look horrible to the school that kept him on.
