*Update Eddie Nunez Emerges as Strong Candidate for Miami AD Job

Bro he went to a school with a football program that Rocky Long, one of the best HCs in CFB, could only get over .500 3 times and he was there for a Decade. Same with Dennis Franchione. The job is so bad that it took forever to get somebody to interview and the guy who took it was an Alum. It’s literally the 2nd worst job in CFB.

Stop acting like it’s Toledo or Kent State where people would be interested in taking those jobs. It’s not. FIU is literally considered a better job and they’re broke.

So why would a school with 5 rings hire a guy from the worst program in the ncaa?

If this Nunez guy comes here do we still hire Zo to handle football operations? Please say yes.
Why is this important? What are Zo's qualifications that make him a good candidate for this potential position?

Hey look another guy with common sense.
It is extremely difficult to get an AD job at a Division I program. Most ADs have fairly long tenure. The turnover is very low. A friend of mine was Assistant AD at Georgia Tech. Job did not pay all that great and he had young kids. Rice was a lifer. He left the department and went into business.

You are talking in circles. If coaching UNM football is the worst job in the country where does the AD job stand? So you’re telling me a guy was a top associate AD at one of the best progrums in the country and the best he could do was the worst athletic department in the country?

Depends on timing and willingness to wait. As I said above it is extremely difficult to get AD jobs at Division I schools.
Go look at Brian White's resume. West Point, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech, Missouri before he got the FAU AD job. You have to be willing to travel around.

Regardless of whether this is a real candidate, EN became AD for UNM in August, 2017 (AD for them for 4 full seasons, now in his 5th).

1. No football success, check.
2. No basketball success, check.
3. No real success as AD, check.

Bonus: Irrelevant ties to Miami, check.
Hired Will Wade at LSU, raised $400 million there and inherited the AD worst job in the Group of 5. Do some f*cking research

I don’t think I would compare GT $$ to LSU $$ in this day at least. I can believe a narrative about the LSU athletic department being a mess at this time and he jumped ship at a new job opportunity to get out, but this idea that he was some sought after fundraiser doesn’t add up

Our BOT will be trumped by Uncle Phil in a big way, who will give Mario the kind of money and assistants budget he needs to take on USC.

Mario ain’t coming here.

We have to hope there’s a back channel to Lane.

If his name isn’t Jurich these guys are going to complain. He’s not my preferred AD but he wouldn’t be a bad hire.

If we offer him $7.5-8M a year and Phil wants to go higher than that then that's on him. If he's a smart businessman he lets Mario walk and takes the $9M buyout and he goes and hires Kalani Sitake or something similar.

I think they'll be reluctant to give him a bigger offer than us after Utah gives them the business again in the PAC12 title game.

Mario has more value to Miami than he does to Oregon because his real recruiting ties and connects are in the Southeast, he's an alum, and he's got the culture reset that Miami terribly needs. If Oregon wants to be like Mich State and offer like Mel Tucker getting $95M - it would be the most idiotic thing they've ever done to give him more than he's worth.
