UNC fired Mack Brown

He said two weeks ago that he was returning.

Then within hours, their top commit flips to USC.

Then they get absolutely smacked by Boston College.

If UNC was serious about football, this had to happen. They will be one of the more attractive P4 jobs this cycle. I’m with you though, I thought this would be more of a “forced retirement”; but Mack seemed hellbent on continuing, which obviously made things more difficult.
And....USAToday writer did a negative piece on him yesterday. But better to be fired so he’ll get his big payout.

Probably got a nice check walking out the door
Like he needs it at this point in his life. These guys just don't know when to quit. Instead of going down as the winningest coach in UNC history, he's going to be remembered for being fired because of JMU scoring 70 points, etc. Besides, dude is 73 years old and he can't take the money with him

Nobody their class is âss and only got 10 commits
That's the joke that has been kept alive around here for a long time. We ask the question to show passive-aggressive indifference to Brown being fired, concerning ourselves with how our team benefits from the firing rather than the humanity of someone losing their job.

Of course he doesn't need it, but money is money

As for the humanity of losing his job, dude is 73 years old, has more money than he needs, could easily get some kind of commentator job, and is no longer winning as a coach. He had to know the situation and he forced their hands rather than riding off into the sunset. This is not the same as somebody who is scraping by and getting fired just before the holidays with no means to put food on the table. GTFOH with the humanity of losing their job when we're talking about a coach who has made tens of millions of $$ and quite frankly sucks at his job

Probably told them "I won't quit, you'll have to fire me" and they went around the block, asked for some buyout money and proceeded.

I don't think there were any issues behind the scenes. They gave him the option to retire or to get fired and if he gets fired, he gets a check.
