I wouldn't say ignorance. Ignorance would never be a catalyst for a personnel paradigm shift.
You see, we old school gator haters don't hate them out of ignorance.
We hate them out of pragmatism.
Through decades we've seen them, and with our experience we have come to an enlightened truth: the Gators are scum.
So you can't hate them without rejoicing at their injuries? That's one step away from just trying to injure them outright. Just stroll out to practice and start stabbing cats.
I hear they taste like chicken.
You're an intelligent poster. I'd appreciate an intelligent response.
I'm actually wearing a shirt right now that says, I Love Cats, They Taste Like Chicken.
It's my Chinese Buffet Shirt.
My reasons for hating the Gators are personnel. Maybe it all started decades ago when a Gainesvile cop gave me a defective vehicle ticket for having a Hurricane license plate holder. Maybe it was the flop. Maybe it was the time I played a twilight threesome with Spurrier and Lon Kruger and watched Spurrier foot wedge it for 18 holes in a money match. Maybe it was the gator fans chucking oranges at us in the 1980 game. Maybe it was the 2008 game.
Brother, the list is long and endless but I think the main reason for my disdain for them is their fans.
Just classless. I live in Los Angeles now, and occasionally go to the Hooters in Burbank to watch the games as here they never show them. The Burbank hooters is officially a UF hangout and you've never seen a more classless bunch of obese trailer trash in your life. They throw insults at me and the waitresses tell me they tip like Shiit.
For my whole life I've seen these same Gator fans acting the same way. The UF alumni must be so proud.
I'm not saying Miami fans are all polite and respectful.
Heck we aren't even polite and respectful to each other, but compared to gator fans...,well, there is no comparison.
There it is. I appreciate the response (& concur in most part).
I loathe Florida fans with a peculiar hatred. For me, having lived in several parts of the southeast and having each special place violated by the sight or conversation of them, I know your feud. The air they carry suggests the sport did not begin until Leak piloted their criminal convoy to a championship. Many of them struggle to recount Wuerffel's exploits. They don't know their roster, and accuse us of being bandwagoneers. They're a pathetic fan base with a pathetic NFL legacy, and would be on UNC's level if they didn't have the SEC logo on their chest.
But I will never, ever, celebrate another human's injury. Not because of their uniform, or the fans behind them, or their legacy of cowardice. Just won't. Could, but won't.
