UCF vs Baylor - Storm Johnson Should Still Be A Cane

I think Bortles is really the only difference. If we had Bortles and they had Morris I think the seasons would be reversed for each school. The difference is, 9-4 in the ACC compared to the AAC is a helluva lot more respectable. If UCF loses Bortles they will fall back to their norm of 7-9 wins in a mid-level conference. It's not like this team is about to surpass Miami and compete with the big boys next season. There is no reason to panic over this.

Nobody should be surprised UCF administration is all on the football program and has been since day one they ain't stupid, they don't have a history but they **** sure are trying to build one!

UCF hit their peak, and good for them. Storm Johnson is graduating and Bortles just played his way into the 1st or 2nd round of the draft. UCF will not have the same season next year.

Bortles is a top 5 qb in the draft while Morris may not get drafted. Nothing more, nothing less.

Some of you just need to grow a pair....

2nd round? maybe last year.

this year, dude is a top 5 overall pick -- not just QB -- in a lot of experts opinion. some in top 3.

I knew him personally and he was extremely selfish. Didn't want to share the ball with Lamar at all.....

Storm Johnson's father said Canes backfield was 'crowded' for his son

There will be one less breakaway running back in the Hurricanes backfield next season.

Storm Johnson Westleigh "Storm" Johnson, coming off a freshman season in which he carried the ball just nine times for 119 yards, but showed a lot of promise with his 71-yard touchdown run in the regular season finale against South Florida, informed coach Al Golden Tuesday afternoon he would like to transfer.

“As of this afternoon, Westleigh Storm Johnson is no longer a part of the University of Miami Football program," UM coach Al Golden said in a statement released through the school Tuesday night.

"When these situations arise, we always assist the student-athlete and his family in the transfer process. We wish Storm success in all future endeavors.”

Johnson's father, Wes, said his son had spoken to Golden "multiple times" about leaving since he took over as coach.

"He wanted to be closer to home. He's a mama's boy and the backfield is crowded," Johnson Sr. said. "Life is full of surprises. We're not broken up. It's his life. Sometimes you have to make hard decisions."

Johnson, who finished this spring as the team's No. 3 running back, was one of six players reportedly suspended for the season opener against Maryland – a report coach Al Golden would neither confirm nor deny during spring practice.

Johnson (6-0, 216) also was reportedly involved in an April 27 incident at a UM residential hall for which school police were called to the scene.

Johnson Sr. said he had been told his son he was "not suspended" and that none of that played into his son's decision.

"He's coming home, going to relax, get into a workout regime and he'll decide within then next couple weeks what he's going to do," Westleigh Sr. said. "There's nothing else that needs to be said."

UCF is a very well coached team. They don't have more talent than Miami. Duke, Coley, Bush, Howard, Jenkins, McCord, AQM, Perryman. UCF would kill for those players and a few more not mentioned.

UCF's success is the result of great coaching, great player development and recruiting. All of that is coaching.

And, just for the record, UCF fans have been calling for O'Learys head for a number of years, insisting he has taken them as far as he can. Bottom line, continuity in the coaching staff is big. Having upper classmen playing, who have been in your program for three or four years is big.

Either way Dan, is it Golden's fault?

Don't think so.
He seemed fine giving Henderson opportunity after opportunity after opportunity after opportunity...

Who knows with Trel. It's like Spurrier at USC his first year. Sent 4 or so guys packing for stealing laptops. The Garcia comes around and it's chance after chance.

Either way, what we can say about Storm is that he didn't put his best effort to stay, and be productive player under Golden. Sure Golden could have be more lenient, but whatever. Is what it is.

It's exactly like Spurrier. As soon as a QB was on the roster that he was comfortable with, Spurrier finally told him to leave. And lets also remember that it's not a coincidence that Henderson's demotion ended as soon as we played FSU.

Golden took a gamble by making an example out of a player who played a position he thought we had plenty of depth in the form of Miller and James, with Duke arriving the following year. 3 years later Miller went pro early, James had graduated, and Duke was Duke, but he never (and in my opinion still hasn't) replaced Storm Johnson.

Golden has a track record of giving players second and third opportunities to learn from their mistakes when they ***** up. Some kids just push the envelope again and again, and at some point you do have to draw a line that cannot be crossed. Why would he be a hardass on one kid and not another???? Any conjecture that Golden was setting an example with Storm and that the kid not being a Cane is any fault other than his own is irresponsible and likely completely incorrect. Are we supposed to let the inmates completely run the asylum?

Real talk...

This R Hall kid moves like S Coley in the open field. Smooth as silk.

Did he have any major offers a few years ago? He's from Miami.......of course.
