Tyson Campbell recruitment??

If we end up in the playoffs and play bama we will go up against two 5 star sofla receivers. Rumph and Banda have done an amazing job and I hope our secondary will be up for the challenge. Every year we cry and say we need to keep the best talent home and now its just any south Florida 3* kid and we can ball out and replace as sofla 5*? Who else should leave then and we'll be fine? Please tell me since we can just switch TC out for anyone.
Then it must be true for other skill positions. Should we let Hall jump in the Saban helicopter too? What about Lo? Pope?

Wow. Talk about a strawman argument.

How is that a straw man argument? That's what you guys are saying. That stars don't matter and sofla 3*s are all underrated and can replace 4 and 5*s

Kendrick Norton was a 3 star. Even Jon Garvin was hideously underrated. Amari carter was a 3 star. So was Derrick Smith, nobody wanted this kid cause they just looked at the stars and assumed he was too slow to play safety.

It goes on and on.

He was a 4 star..

3* by some. His point remains true. Garvin was not a 5* bluechip player but he's bossing the 5* from Cali.

Garvin was also an EE. Learned the playbook in the spring and got experience with a loaded dline while the 5* was in Cali waiting to graduate. Dumb point.

Really?

So the 3-4* kids from south Florida is or is not bossing the 5* from cali?

Don't give me the but...but....but.....nonsense.

Talent evaluation and landing those targets are far more important than how many stars a kid has from the 'experts'.

Give me some of the 5* blue chippers, but I also love the 3* raw athlete from s Florida that come in hungry and ready to make history. Sometimes these 5* kids are entitled and underachieve drastically which can become a cancer on a football squad.

You just can't comprehend what anecdotal evidence is can you? Any singular example you give means absolutely nothing in the eyes of statistics. If our classes were 100% 4 and 5 stars we would win the national championship every year. Bama has had the highest ratio of 4 and 5 star players out of every team in the country, and somehow they're always good. Care to explain how we're rarely good with a bunch of 3 stars but they're always good?

Garvin was being recruited hard by Clemson and they are DL wizards there staff, everyone knew him and Joe Jackson were 5 stars we didnt need a website to tell us that.

stars matter its why we have a higher ranked class now

Not a single kid from this list was close to a 5 star or the top 100, or even a top 200 kid. Only a few were 4 stars and barely that, just making the cutoff for this ranking.
Anyone that thinks we need 5 stars like Tyson or Pat to field championship defenses at Miami are utterly retarded.

Florida State is 4-6. They have a roster full of 4-5* players. There's a **** of a lot more to winning national titles than recruiting rankings. One of those things is talent evaluation by a coaching staff and not simply going after dudes that are 5* players.

Never have I said I don't want 5* players. I want ballas and dudes that make plays. Those players can be a 1* or a 5*.

You just need a base minimum level of athletic talent, after that, it's just a complete crapshoot as to who blows up and who doesn't. Strong won bcs bowls with the plan b and c DREGS from Florida loading up his depth chart.

Lol at your blatant cherry picking of outliers, not to mention lies considering how easy it is to look up how wrong you are.

Hint — you can click on Rankings and it orders it for your simple mind. Feel free to look up past championship teams to see how their rosters look. Honestly feel (hope) you’re trolling at this point.

Most aren't taking that extreme of a position. I think most would agree that (again), on average, you'd prefer to have more highly-ranked players. But I also think most would agree that there are lots of 3 stars out there that will end up being studs. That shouldn't be too hard for you to reconcile.

U can go by rankings but some guys will get missed, I usually go by ranking and whos really pushing to get the kids. Like Hall and Jobe.......Saban is sleeping under there beds pretty much and he knows football his guys go to the league. This team is good now but wait till u see what this staff does with Gilbert, Hall, Jobe, Tyson, Blades u will really be like this is the U. Let them coach those guys up and watch the defensive TDs increase, u see Bandy already and this staff can identify kids.

You've yet to respond to one of my comments debunking your anecdotal evidence.. you have no idea what you're talking about

Those kids haven't won a championship and while we may be ranked second, we still haven't made the playoffs; but I hope we do and I hope we win. I agree that the south florida athlete seems to always rise to the top. So stars be damned if the staff has evaluated them properly and feel that the kid is a winner. Anyone on this board who saw the highlights when Garvin sacked Blackmon 7 times new he wasn't a 3 star. But there are only so many of those guys. Not every 2 star sofla athlete is Antonio Brown. So when we see someone like PS2 and TC its a "Must Keep In SOFLA" situation for several reasons.
1. Lock down the state
2. Make it harder for other schools to recruit down here
3. These kids command a lot of respect from kids in junior classes and it sends a message to them that UM is where sofla ballers want to play
4. Fill the roster with elite South Florida talent with oos kids who the staff feel they can gel with the kids and provide legit competition in practice and depth on the field.
5. There is a reason why Eaford was on Jeudys periscope saying "you couldn't pay me to come to UM". We were getting clowned by the other schools that recruited down here and the kids bought into it and that sh.t needs to stop.
6. If a 3 star beats out TC, Ivey, Pope etc.. for a 1 spot, then I challenge any team in the country to have a better 2 deep team.

I am utterly retarded.

Fixed.

Lol typical star ***** here just got triggered. While you're busy chasing stars, miami is turning 3 stars into nfl prospects.

More than 3/4 of the guys you listed were four star prospects on at least one of the sites.

A few of them were consensus four stars.

Who cares about "one of the rankings " . Lol I'm talking about consensus of ALL rankings. And just like you said only a few were 4 stars. NONE of these cats were anywhere NEAR Tyson or Pat in the rankings.

Thinking you need a team full of 5 stars or even top 200 guys to run championship defense at Miami is utterly retarded. I just named every player in our 2 deep except for Thomas, Shaq, and Jackson.

Except these are the actual consensus 3 star guys. Took Young off too since he was a **** Army All-American. Also funny you arbitrarily choose “Top 200”, despite no site even using that as the cutoff for their highlight lists.

I'm just not going to waste the time trying to explain this to you because it's clearly way too difficult for you to understand.

Every team to win the championship in at least the past 10 years have had at least 50% of their team consist of 4 and 5 star players.

I explained this before the season....you can piece a championship team together with talented 4* or 5* players from each class....along with developed 3* talent.... 2009 bama team had several 3* players starting......this Miami team looks very similar..IMO
