Related question: when we shifted to a 3-4 vs Ga Tech, contain responsibility fell on the OLBs, correct? I couldn’t believe we were incapable of containing their outside runs. But I didn’t know whom to blame. Was that on Bain and Baron or on Wes and Chase/Alderman?

I watched Baron shoot inside on multiple outside runs like a stupid ****. I hate selfish players who don’t do their jobs. Like what did Guidry change scheme wise that has this Defense looking like super mega ***

all our ends go inside the tackle when GT wants to hit the edge. Guidry has no game plan or adjustment. duke took themselves out of it bc Murphy finally chucked up those picks

From what I’ve seen he had a lot of success beating bad teams with speed. Better teams he still tries, but frequently gets pushed too deep and QBs just step up and free to run.

As a coordinator how do you not know your opponents. There is no excuse for the defensive game plan we ran against GT whose offense literally can throw a forward pass on a consistent basis.

Why were we playing games with the front four against a team that ain't throwing the ball? We were rushing the passer as if they were going to throw the dam ball and loosing containinment on the LOS. We were going for the fakes on the ball carrier and allowed them to get outside instead of funneling the play back inside for help so others can make the play.

The coaches are dumb the players are dumb the system is broken and I don't think it's fixable. We need Cam to make the right plays and not play hero ball and hope to god we can out score the other team!!

As you were writing this, GT ran another jet sweep right past him. I generally push the brakes on these sorts of things because I don't know the defensive assignments and reads. However, what I do know is that any decent (not great) defense starts with settaing an edge. At younger levels, it's typically the responsibility of the DE to drive the flow of the offenso to the inside - where his help is. Obviously that changes with twists, stunts and blitzes, but there should always be an edge set, barring an all out blitz. We haven't set an edge worth a F in months.

Is this because of schemes? Selfish hero-ball? Poor technique? Something else? Based on the way the secondary looks confused as all heII about 2/3 of the time, I'm guessing the DEs don't know the scheme and responsibilities, but who knows. It's maddening because it is Football 101.

I live in TN and have a bunch of UT friends. They did not care to see him go. Before I even told him about Barron disappearing this year he talked about Ut DE's like Barron that would get near the QB but never get him down and then disappear for a month or more on the field.

he does wear that shoulder harness... caught my eye in the Duke game. Wondered if he has a shoulder issue
