If TVD really wants to pounce, he wouldn't have participated in spring events. He would have left months ago.

Not the same situation. Addison left late because USC offered him a bonkersload of money when NIL was really fresh and not every program was set up (and Pitt absolutely wasn't set up).

This also makes clear that even if he stays, after this year TVD cannot be counted on except to solicit more offers. He’ll be just as likely to look for more money in Portal 1/2024 and Portal 2/2024. Miami has to bring in a strong portal candidate after the season, even if TVD does well and declines to go pro.

I have no intention of bashing the guy, but I do believe most would find it more reasonable/agreeable had he left after the season.

Would give the staff more time and more options to replace him in that scenario, as opposed to taking reps away from others the entire spring and now leaving the staff with much less recourse were he to leave now.

Guess it just depends on how people look at it. It’s also not unreasonable, from TVD’s side, to give this offense a look before making the decision to leave. From the rest of the team’s and staff’s perspectives, however.. definitely not a favorable result*

This should have never been put out, but anyway:

1) I think it will get worked out. Miami wants him back.
2) If it doesn’t, there is a plan in place that would ease everyone’s pain if completed.

Even if it “gets worked out,” how is the damage not already done in the eyes of the rest of the team? Asking the team to get behind a guy whose heart clearly isn’t with the Canes, can’t see that ending well at all.

This is year 2 of Mario. The roster already looks much better but 1/4 to 1/3 are still toxic a** dudes and bums. If TVD leaves he leaves. We weren’t winning much with him anyways.

My only want for this year is a better on field product, particularly on the offensive end, and overall competitive football. Guidry seems like a slam dunk so gotta keep him.

If TVD leaves get a portal game manager QB who can run or give Emory a shot. Kaaya was a true freshman when he started and he was solid enough.

Sure, but IIRC this is not the first time TVD has done this. He also re-negotiated his NIL deal end of last year, no? On top of that, waiting until after spring ball when potential replacements are much more limited makes it a far worse situation for the team.

All that being said, I wouldn’t be so sure this is purely a money play. And if it is, then it’s a pretty bad look at this late stage.

I think if TVD comes back closer to the level of 2021, which he probably will, he'll go pro.

NFL is a projection business and they can quickly tie ****** QB performance to an awful scheme.

He’s played behind zero o line with limited WR talent outside of Rambo and has still managed to produced…TVD beats out and starts at 98% of the schools in the country. Maybe 5 schools he doesn’t walk into and start at automatically and Bama isn’t one of them

Gattis sucked, but TVD had a few legitimately bad games last season. TVD is not on that level, just a wild claim to make frankly
