TVD Staying at UM Mega-Thread (F off Nick and the local Miami media dreck)

The biggest difference is one plays the most important position in sports, even average qbs get monster deals in the league. There’s only so many capable ones to go around, his agent knows that, simple supply and demand, qbs that have shown even an ounce of talent will always have leverage. I mean Richardson is about to be a top 10 pick and can’t hit the broadside of a barn while Wong probably won’t get drafted after one of the best seasons in our history.

As a big Miami bball fan, Wong is more than a touch overrated. Love the guy and he is an all time cane, but TVD is more important to this football team than Wong was to the basketball team.

If he plays well, nobody will care about the renegotiation. If he plays poorly, they will dislike him twice as much.

He put the spotlight on himself, but it will all boil down to performance.
Exactly. He put himself on a **** of an island, where all eyes will be on him, and they all will be extremely critical of everything he does this season.

We saw what happened last year when he put himself out there with stadium comments. Didn't go well at all.

This is something that could haunt him come draft time if anything about his play is even average.

The timing of it all is the thing to dislike but its also when he had the most leverage. I'm going to actually give him some props. He is still here despite looking like a first round qb in his first season and then having his new HC saddle him with the worst OC possible. His stock is way down and a lot of it isn't his fault. He could have bounced and nobody would have blamed him. Hopefully with Dawson he can have a productive season and he will be looked at as a guy who began to turn around the program.

Like many, I've heard the urban legends about this case.

3rd degree burns? What were they serving, molten lava?

The attendant had to make it and put it in a cup. Then bring it to her at drive through window. Then it spills on her through a clothing barrier (assuming she wasn't rocking nudie nude).

Fluid (not acidic or base) temps hot enough for 3rd degree burns in under 2 secs is ~149° F of direct contact. People don't realize how truly hot that is. The attendant couldn't have even held the cup to put into the holder with BBQ mits.

3rd degree burns are all the way through to subcutaneous fat. Black or white necrotic skin. Massive nerve damage.

That was one **** of a cup of joe.

Not sure what kind of a cup they were using back then (and we all know that styrafoam is disfavored today), but the temperatures were taken from the coffee pots themselves. The drive-through kid would pour it into a cup, cap it, and either hand it over to the driver or put it in one of those 4-slot cup carriers.

The woman was elderly (not spry) and had her seatbelt on in a relatively small car with "bucket" type seats. And no cupholders in the car. Because she couldn't wriggle free, the contact lasted for longer than 2 seconds. The whole situation was like a perfect storm of bad circumstances.

As @wspcane said, the real reason McDonald's made the coffee so hot was for drive-through customers who would have the coffee in-transit for several minutes before drinking it. If you're just sitting in the restaurant, you can always get a refill if the coffee goes cold.

Just think how much MORE drive-through business McDonald's does today vs. 1989. If they still kept the coffee THAT hot today, you'd be opening up entire burn wings in hospitals to treat drive-through injuries.

I feel like suing McDonalds now.

I love u bro, but I’m not an emotional poster. I said what I said & I meant what I said. TVD has 6 outstanding games under his belt to end the season in 2021. He was cooking those 6 games; but, TVD has played in more than 6 games.

So let’s examine 9-7 TVD. (Again, I’m not including the games post injury which he sustained against Duke)

-Last 6 games to end the 2021 season? 5-1. All other games? 4-6.

-TVD has 4,668 yrds in 16 games. That looks great, except, 47% of that production came within, u guessed it, 6 games.

-TVD has 35 TDs in 16 games. Again, looks great; except, 57% of that production came within, wouldn’t u know it, 6 games.

So let’s discuss why TVD is 4-6 in those other games:

Sure, the low hanging fruit would be blaming Diaz or Gattis, except the reason y we weren’t 7-0 to end the season in 2021? B/c Tyler was a turnover machine against both UNC & a 3-win at the time FSU. Yes, it’s true we remember the 4th & 14 against FSU, but we forget the hole we dug for ourselves w/ TVDs ints.

OK, let’s Ffwd to 2022; everyone saw despite how chitty Gattis was calling plays, TVD was missing easy like Sunday morning throws. So Gattis changed up his philosophy & allowed TVD to start toting the rock. TVD threw the ball some 176 times during a 4 game stretch. By comparison, the most passes TVD had during any 4 game stretch under Lashlee was 163 times.

Now I know, not all passes are created equal, right? Except his career high in yards came under Gattis, ironically. Never mind all of that, let’s talk MTSU, u know the home game against a G5 opponent?

Who spotted MTSU an immediate lead? That would be TVD.

Who was boo’d out of the bldg & had to be replaced by a guy who’s stinking up Mizzou’s practice field? That would be TVD.

While TVD was absolutely dazzling those last 6 games to end the season in 2021, the fact is in those other 10, he’s a 247 ypg w 15 TDs / 8 int QB or 2:1 ratio.

So, let me be very clear…with all these shenanigans, whether it was meant to be leaked or not, now it’s out there. There’s no more Diaz excuses, there’s no more Gattis excuses. TVD has an OC that took the 35th rated QB coming out & put up #’s I hope he balls out, but as I said, none of this chit happens if that QB room was stacked; I’m not saying TVD don’t ask for 4 more $$, but our susceptibility to it.

And just remember, TVD wasn’t “hurt” until Week 7, which is y I’m not holding those other two games afterwards against him.
Agree with everything you said... The thing for me is with all that you said... We have 3 QB's to realistically start for us right now... And of the 3 Tyler is our best bet....
I'm willing to see what happens come fall when things really get rolling...
Yes TVD has flaws, no doubt... Show me a QB anywhere that doesn't....
He can be good for us .. this really is his money year both on and off the field... I want to believe he's smart enough to understand this and ball out hard on the field....

He'd best take his 10 other starters out for dinner once a week before the season starts until the end of the season. Dont show up thinking you're better than everybody and thinking you walk on water.

Now take this and think about 80 million and make him a Cuban coach from Miami. Just imagine it. That could never happen right?
HTX - my man, why the identity politics of this? Not necessary. So many people are so quick to go to ethnic background when discuss success and failures. What, they are supposed to fire him in year one to hold him accountable?

Mario will be judged justly on performance. He’s been criticized plenty. Same with Tyler. Mario made mistakes in staff last year that didn’t help Tyler and many others in any way. He’s put in a fix which we will find out soon enough if it will work out for the Canes.

Same with Tyler. New offense, new players. Not necessarily the best players he probably wishes to have but you can say that about any QB. Those that do better with less should no doubt be better with more.

My expectation of TVD is not 2021 TVD in 6 games. It’s to be a competent QB that makes UM a respectable team and hopefully he not only takes a big step forward but elevates others around him which happens to be my same expectation for Mario.

People also believe they are related because the symbols are very similar.

Wusthof = singles
Henckels = Zwilling (twins)

At least that is what my German friends have always told me.

Went Wusthuf because our closest German friends were Wusthof fans. As dumb American, had no idea when I bought them but really was trying to impress Mrs Empirical (then Ms Not Empirical but we all know mama wanted Big Papi).

Later went to factory and bought big set (again to impress Mrs Empirical).

In summation, I bought the **** knives to get Mrs Empirical to go out with me, continue dating me, foolishly decide to marry me, and then bear our offspring.

Yep, Wusthof knives are that **** good.

🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, Wusthof is completely legit, and they ONLY manufacture in Germany. Henckels has "sold out" on the lower-end product, but still make a ****-fine high-end product.

Back in the good old days, when I got my big "signing bonus" with Arthur Andersen after I finished the tax law program, I went a little crazy with my first few household purchases. I bought some Wusthof knives (not a lot, I was still in an apartment, Miami housing was pricey even then).

I didn't have a "Mrs. TOC" to impress, so I justified the purchase with my half-German ethnicity. And the signing bonus wasn't big enough to buy a German car.

actually a hsame that gattis tried to pass off failures onto his players instead of himself bc it really ruined the off field for tyler. he has his flaws as you said, but off the field he never really did anything lol. then here comes gattis and tvd is a trash can now

Nope but you can take away from the outlet that leaked it to send a message and it’ll stop happening if they want access for content

If yahoo or some major outlet got the info and leaked it.. you can’t stop it. But these are the ones that talk to players and recruits every day and watch practice every day. Can’t have that happening that close.
They still don't think they did anything wrong

Do you think Mario got the staff right this time?

I think I already sort of addressed your first point his race isn’t of any significance to me (although would he be the same person with the financial backing he has from certain billionaires? Who knows) He’s a championship winning former UM football player and is from Miami. He isn’t getting fired even if he was orange. So let’s shift it off of that. I think Tyler will go as Mario goes. Mario didn’t do him any favors last year for sure but even with the terrible offense, the conservative nature we had comes from Mario, not gattis. That needs to be addressed. I expect both parties will perform much better or let’s just fast forward to Nijel Pack hitting 43% from 3 this year

id say gattis and ponce had a lot to do with what happened to tvd last year too. fact is none of the QBs were even remotely decent under both of those and it was confirmed that ponce was teaching them one thing for an offense that we didnt run under gattis. tvd did miss throws though but i think Gattis (i called it right after So Miss) was a bigger culprit.

Every car has multiple cupholders today. Her car was a 1989 Ford Probe. No cupholders. There is a flat part on the passenger dashboard, but would a reasonable person be expected to reach all the way over there to use it?
