But sometimes you have to know what you’re good at. 4 yrs as a DC and his defenses ranked 65th. That’s awful
I hear you. But the only guy who can make that decision is T-Rob, and ego is a **** of a thing. I'd love to have him here if he was cool with being a CB/DB coach at a P5 program. I just imagine his mind is elsewhere.

This is issue with hiring former canes who arent really qualified, samething happened with Kehoe, was very hard to let him go because we are nice guy school and he cant get hired anywhere else but high school asst ol coach.. Former players get in uproar even tho it would upgrade position and puts program in best position.. If Rumph is as good as some say he will have a job before he even packs, even the prior db coach gets gigs, rumph should be fine right? RIGHT?!
People overthink it. Just make the call. Former players have a point of view if you ask them in advance. If you just make the decision, they’re professionals and loyal to the program and will understand.

Wasn’t there rumblings last offseason Rumph was going to get canned? So far with staff improvements Diaz has done a good job. I’d like to believe improving the CB operations of this program has to have crossed his mind. This almost seems like a way too perfect scenario to happen though.

He actually committed to Butch (UM) early on recruiting cycle, but eventually flipped to Auburn when Turbeville took over that program.
This reminds me you've been a cot**** machine since 1998 in 'Eye of the Hurricane' board. Was just a HS kid then, but learned a lot from reading many of you dudes talk recruiting, coaching, and football.

He was not awful when you look at average points and yards allowed per game. Diaz was the same as TRob at MissSt and Texas, yet he gets a DC job he didn't necessarily excel at, leaves and remarkably get brought back as HC.
In his tenure as DC he average:
63rd in points allowed
78th in yards allowed

if this is good to you then we have different standards of what a good to elite DC is

He’s probably going to follow Muschamp unless he takes a year off. Not enough small schools opening for Baker to get A HC job.
