so are you just going on portal ranking. Papa Rox point was, if our staff didn't fight to keep him, why the **** not?? Did we lose all desire to "Develop" kids???? Leave out the comments about this staff or JD with zero developmental skills.... I liked Crowther in some of the earlier games, but then he struggled... but he's a RSF coming of TJ...
who said the staff didn't fight to keep them?

Yes, he is a big deal! Both Crowther and Diaz needed to be retained. Crowther just got back after two years of not pitching.
I’m more disappointed about Diaz than Crowther if we’re being honest. I was underwhelmed by Crowther the fall before his TJ, and we still don’t have a clean read on what he is at this point in his recovery. With him heading into his RS Sophomore year, it probably either worked out and he was going next year after getting drafted, or it didn’t and we were parting ways in a year anyway. That’s probably a spot where you can get a one year rental that’s a more certain commodity in the portal.

Development at the high end level is dead. Don't take it from me. Take it from a active College coach

Probably why he sucks. First time I heard of him I saw his team at Barton and they were terrible. How did he fall up into Gardner Webb?

Keith Gorman took over for him at Barton and really transformed them after he was great at Cumberland in NAIA. Took a sorry program to a regional this year.

Chester has had an agent since he was at the D3 PSU Allegheny job...no D2/D3 Coaches have that. It might be a relative. But it got him Loch Haven (not that many people wanted it) he immediately hit the portal got a few good arms and as soon as he had success he jumped at Barton (was a finalist for St Leo at the same time but they went with the guy from St Josephs Indiana which had just closed. Same thing brought in a bunch of guys, first sign of success he left. He would have done the same thing at Gardner Webb too but he stalled out a bit.

Gorman was the coach at Cumberland CC in NJ built that program from nothing and won an NC. Awesome guy. I got a few of his players down to play at USC Beaufort a few years ago. He really gets the most out of his guys.

Chester tries to take credit for Mason Miller too. But Mason blew up while he was at Waynesburg (D3).

I will say he had a rough go of it just before Loch Haven....his ex-wife made some pretty big headlines. While he isnt completely wrong he is also just a guy who really doesnt want to take the time to develop, he wants to win ASAP and keep moving up. Passionate guy; a bit of a BS'er...but he has improved their facilities too through some fundraising with alums.

LOL I totally thought Gorman came from Cumberland NAIA program because they were winning 34 and 37 games in the 2018 and 2019 seasons and then that corresponded to when he would have been there prior to Barton. Then they went in the ******* immediately in 2020 and beyond when he would have left.

Made perfect sense in my head.

Yeah..tough to say no to Jim S. They also have an assistant named Max Weiner. So thats pretty awesome
Max Weiner is a stud coach.

A friend reminded me a couple years ago that I hosted him on a visit my senior year with some of his other teammates at Lake Sumter.. All were friends from Miami. Only landed 1 of them. But he was a pitching coordinator for the Mariners at the time and super young.

IIRC he was *** as a player. Surprised he ended up at FIU. Goes to show talent does not equal coaching ability.
