Duke wins games by himself

Which ones?

Exactly. Some people seem to think I'm a "Duke hater" just because I pointed out he hasn't produced in big games.

I love Duke. But his hype has outweighed his production, at least on this board.

Unless you say he's going to win the Heisman people on here will call you hater.

He's a very good back. Great kick returner.

But he certainly wasn't the best player on the field against the only real opponent we've played all year.

Give me Porter, Perryman, and Pierre before him

I'm telling you man, the people here love to slurp Duke no matter what he does or doesn't do on the field.

And I personally love Duke. I love him as a player and I love him as a Cane. But I'm also realistic.

He certainly has the potential to be one of the greatest running back to ever play here. He has great tools. Not Barry Sanders tools as one poster said over the summer (lol), but great tools.

If he wants to realize that potential, he needs to perform on the big stage.

How well did Barry Sanders do against "good competition?"

He averaged 40 yards per game in the playoffs. But I guess Barry Sanders was just overrated.

Not like we've needed duke truley to win our first 4 games. Let's be real how he performs in this I hate to say second half of our season as we start conference play and the games matter 10x more will be more of indication of how valuable he is to not only the offense but our entire teams chance of succeeding to where most of us have locked our goals into

We are going to win a lot of games by teams loading the box to stop Duke and forcing Morris to beat them.

LOL @ Duke hasn't performed well against good competition. As if he had a chance. Show me a big game where he got some decent blocking, or a big game where we actually committed to the run.

Duke is a stud plain and simple. A RB, I don't care how good he is, can't win a game all by himself. If there are no holes to run through is it his fault??? If WRs aren't sustaining blocks is it his fault? This is a team game period. One part can't operate without the other. Thus far, our line has pass blocked better then they have run blocked for the most part. Our OL play needs to improve. Until then Duke is not a miracle maker.. You look at all the great RBs and they had good OLs that opened holes for them.

As soon as our OL starts playing with a nasty demeanor and plays up to their potential, Duke and the rest of the RBs will start playing better.

Agreed. He didn't have a chance to perform in big games. We were playing from behind the whole game against kansas state, notre dame, and fsu. He had 6, 8, and 9 carries respectively. The line got dominated on each of these and he had no running room. I think it would have been smarter to have him in the slot on some of the plays against those teams to at least get him in space and give the kid a chance. His stats are not his fault in those games

1. DP-just because he's somewhat consistent
2. Morris
3. Duke
4. Hurns
5. Howard- Don't know why everyone is sleeping on him.
6. McCord
7. Ambrister
8. Porter
9. Chickillo
10. D. Crawford

No one has really dominated on defense YET. The offense is being stalled by injuries to Morris and Duke but the progression of Gus, R Williams, Coley, Sandland, etc. is fun to watch.

So then Shaw from usf had better blocking from WRs yesterday?

Come on man.

Would you trade Shaw for Duke?

Then stfu

You must have me confused with someone else.

My point was how do you explain Shaws effectiveness? Was it great blocking? Or is he just really good?

And if he didn't have great blocking what's duke's excuse?

How I was clearer this time.

Can't believe people are still saying Duke isn't producing. Oline isn't doing their job plain and simple

Majority of Shaw's production was on one run.

Are you implying that Shaw is better than Duke?

Come on man.

Most of his damage came on 1 play dude. Almost half his yds... You can't compare 2 guys based off one game. Now if you want to wait until their careers are over and compare I would be glad to compare then..

Again I'm not saying one is better than the other. I would say Duke is better. What I'm saying is you can't just write off the fact that he's not very effective against good run defenses because of blocking.

He's a really good player. But he's not the best player on the team right now because they'd be 4-0 with our without him.

Duke has been treated like royalty around here and he hasn't earned it compared to other guys.

And if he plays against FSU the way he did against Florida then I think we all definitely need to reassess our opinion him.
