Top 5 Risers Going Into UTOUGH/Spring Practice

A lot is mentioned about size and strength gains, which I agree is priority number one. I am also interested to see what the track guys do in terms of speed gains. We still aren't back to elite team spead, but we are getting there.

I read something yesterday on the recruiting board from a guy claiming to be an insider. He mentioned Terry, and what he said surprised me because I always thought of Terry as a monster worker. He said Terry isn't all that committed to the weight program and that he doesn't take the nutrition part of the program seriously. That's really a **** shame if true because I can see this dude being an absolute terror off the edge with his absurd athleticism with added size and strength.
I know it's not your words, but a wrestler not committing to nutrition makes absolutely no sense.

A lot of teenagers just aren't educated on the need for nutrition. They have to be taught the correct way to eat and train because this is the first time they are ever exposed to the idea.

The guy purporting to have the inside knowledge on this subject was pretty clear that Terry is not following the lifting/nutrition program at UM. So, it seems like we're trying to get him on board, but he's just not really doing it. Now, the dude on the recruiting board might have made the whole thing up because I didn't seen any of our mods vouch for his credibility. But he seemed like a pretty reasonable guy.

Isn't Terry still wearing a cast on his foot? If not there might be a chance he's still rehabbing from a surgery. I think it was foot or ankle related.

It's crazy but what Franchise is saying is true for many wrestlers (really good ones too) that I know. They have the most ****ed up eating habits. Eating disorders, starvation, bullemia etc. ****'s crazy.

Nothing to do with Terry since I have no clue but its surprising how top notch wrestlers eat sometimes.

Has Terry become a ****** or something? What the **** is going here?

The influx of talent, discipline, and S&C into this program the last few years in nothing short of amazing. Canes have a legit shot to be very good next year.

P.S. Don't forget about Rayshawn...will be a specimen next year.

1. I have no clue about Terry's involvement in UTough, but last I saw him, dude was jacked. (Obligatory no homo.) Very lean, muscular. Likely sub 6% bodyfat. He looked more like a big safety than a LB. This was 2 or 3 months ago. Also, he had a boot on then; I'd be surprised if he still had it on.

2. I would venture to say that most of the kids aren't eating well, due to lack of education on the topic, as well as money, habits, good genes, etc. I doubt this is a problem unique to us; I'd bet this is the case across the country with college athletes.

I have an acquaintance who's interning on Swasey's staff. I'll ask for updates next time I bump into him.

1. Curtis Porter = guy has never played a full season. Him coming back, being healthy, and playing in every game will be a key not only to the D, but whether or not this team plays in a BCS bowl.

2. Olsen Pierre = he is progressing nicely after being considered a reach when he signed. Add a steady Pierre to a healthy Porter every game and this D will have already improved.

3. Beau Sandland = a lot of hype surrounding this kid. Is he gonna be Chase Ford, or Jeremy Shockey? Expectations are high for him as well and I expect him to be wearing a black jersey before Spring ball is over.

lol @ Chase Ford

At worst Beau Sandland is Kevin Everett

All anyone has to do is watch the first 7 seconds (not even the entire play) of this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LF7wJqcOU6k

You'll immediately understand what a dynamic weapon he can be.

Completely agree.

Ford had ZERO size.

Ford had enough size and hype coming out of juco. A fan with family on staff when he signed was calling him the next Shockey back then too.

I still expect Sandand to leave Spring ball as the #1 TE as I stated above.

LULZ Chase Ford had like 2 other offers. The Sandman had like 30 other offers (and runs a 4.6 btw).

So many names. So much potential. Really gets you excited thinking about what is actually on the roster and how much improvement we could see in just a year. Its a nice release from all the recruiting news/rumors.

Deon Bush - with 20-25 lbs of added weight this dude will be a beast in the secondary

You think he's gonna add 20-25 lbs by next season? Or just in general/eventually? Hopefully the latter because I'm just hoping he can add 10 lbs for 2013. MHO of course.

yeah it would be nice to add 20 pounds and not lose a step, but i say we just focus on five to ten pounds a player and keep the team speed as high as possible. You can get away not being as physical on the outside if there is always another person there with you to help bring the guy down due to speed. imo at least

Y'all just keep sleeping on my man Jontavious Carter. Dude is going to explode on the scene.

Just in general - I wouldn't expect our team to bulk up that fast - we aren't LSU/Bama

You're so right. Cause we don't have that Deer Antler mouth spray ****!

I'm gonna go out of the box and light a fire under Lockhart. Game on dude! Time to shine!
