Tommy Streeter and Damien Berry cut by Ravens

What was staying here another year gonna do for Streeter?

Shoot, he got coached in the NFL for the last year instead.

If he ain't got it, he ain't got it. (and he's ain't got it)

Dude is stiff as a board, can't explode out of breaks, doesn't high-point the ball well, isn't physical and has questionable hands. If he couldn't improve on those things after being in the NFL for a year then what makes anybody think he would've improved them while being at UM?

Other than his forty, his performance at the NFL combine was embarrassing.

One of the few times ive disagreed with you Wildcat...If he stays in school gets bigger and goes another year he may get drafted in second at least third round...more guaranteed money and its a whole lot easier to cut a 6th round pick than a 2nd or third.... He cost him self at least a mil or 2

I still thinks he goes to the NFL combine and looks like trash. I think the combine would've exposed him as a one-trick-pony regardless of how well he did his senior year. (vertical routes only)

I'm a firm believer that the NFL puts alot of stock in a player's skill-sets and measureables, regardless of what they've done in college. That's why Vernon was drafted in the 3rd round. He had little production at Miami but his measureables were outstanding and they projected that he could contribute in the NFL.

Most of the Canes that has been drafted the last 5 years from us are having more productive NFL careers. I think the NFL scouts realized that our guys were poorly coached and didn't develop like they should of as well.

Damien Berry, before all the knee injuries, had some of the best soph highlights I have ever seen. Could have been a great one at RB or safety. Hope he catches on again somewhere.

Rumor here in Baltimore is that Streeter's worth ethic and toughness were in question. Getting "stingers" and recovering from said stingers seemed to be too much of a focus. ChefRaven told me that.

I respectfully disagree with this. The NFL preseason is a shark tank, where only the strong survive. They have no time for developing players, they need to find the players who are already ready to contribute on the field immediately, unless they've made a long-term investment in one of their 1st, 2nd or 3rd round picks. Everyone else needs to come ready to play.

Streeter would have benefitted dramatically by staying an extra year. Maybe he doesn't have the quick twitch or hips to be more than one-dimensional. But his hands would have been better, his blocking, and his value on STs. Those are enough to make the difference. NFL teams need someone who can stretch the field and catch a timed pattern on the deep ball or end-zone jump ball. If Streeter were more well-rounded, he would have stuck for sure. So, yes, I think he lost millions by leaving early.

His downfalls are in his genetics though. He's soft and he has no bend. That wouldn't have changed.

You can either catch or you can't. How much better do you think his hands were gonna get in a year? Hankerson sought personal help from duper and STILL went into the NFL with inconsistent hands.

That's true. But they were better - much better. No reason to think that Streeter couldn't make the same improvement. But, I think the genetic thing is more on target. I think Streeter is a laid back, non-aggressive type, and that's not going to change. I think it's just his personality.

The ironic thing about the whole 2008 recruiting class is that the one Northwestern Bull we didn't sign up, went on to have a **** good college career and is one of the better young linebackers in the NFL, Levonte David.
We took practically every Bull, yet we missed on that guy?
