Todays scrimmage

I think I saw Ladarius Gunter make a couple of hard hits, one on D. Crawford on the sideline.... (edit: It couldve been Dortch on that play)

nobody on this team can keep up with Phillip Dorsett, thats nothing Howard couldve done w/o safety help over the top.... the safeties needed to be there on that play.

Herb Waters is a beast, it wasnt just on Fentress though b/c he's back there playing safety, who ever was the cornerback in front of him got beat immediately out the play.

Artie Burns looked physical on the hard tackle on Waters.

Beau Sandland needs to start as our TE.... dude is a completely different animal from this spring.

You cant tell how good or bad the D-line was but its good to see Jelani Hamilton still making plays in Camp.

Overall the coaching staff definitely needs to address the safety situation b/c Deon cant do it by himself... I think Kacy Rodgers looked like the best safety on the field but its hard to tell, i think he is going to play better then ppl think on here.

But Ladarius Gunter and Artie Burns both need to rotate at safety b/c the depth aint there and the talent isnt developed yet.

It looked like Waters was running through zones and Morris hit him in stride with accuracy and touch. People keep saying he can't do that. So I don't think its on a specific corner.

Burns can stay where he is. I'd rather not overwhelm a freshman in a defense that appears to be difficult to pick up as is.

You right, Artie Burns should stay at corner but they need to have Ladarius Gunter back there at times.

Also yeah it does look like that was a zone defense Herb Waters and Stephen Morris ate up.

I know you're not a fan of Rayshawn but man can we see the team play 1st before commenting so critically off a few video clips? No one really knows this team's weaknesses except for the coaches. The depth chart may even surprise some people but none of us, except for Chip, has seen practice.

Agree with one of the earlier posts on Coker, show me where there was great interest or someone swooping in to steal him. It never happened. Perhaps based on past history - Jimmy, Erickson and Butch - Paul Dee was proactive, but he badly miscalculated. Coker is a very nice man who should have won two national titles, thanks to a boatload of talent procured earlier by eagle-eyed Butch. Coker's stock was such, though, that he later couldn't get a hometown job back at Tulsa. Again, nice man, but he wasn't a climber and would have stayed at Miami forever if given the chance. Dee set the athletic department back years with this contract and the Perry Clark fiasco.

Man, it looks like Herb Waters has 4.3 speed. Herb & Phillip look like track stars out there. DB's better play off because they can change the game in one play, WOW.

Or Rice, LOL!, who hired a high school coach rather than Ashy larry.

You can barely tell because of how badly edited the highlights are but it looks like on Dorsett's TD it was on Howard not the safeties. The Waters long TD was on our walk on Fentress. Overreacting throughout this thread.

I think it was done on purpose as to not show the entire play.

Makes a lot of sense.

Tracy was beaten at the line or on a double move or a blown coverage by some one.

Your right, I never thought of it but it must have been a double move. Phillips runs a 4.2 but that separation looks like a double move separation.

You think when Santana, Reggie, Andre played here that D never gave up plays in practice?

The D will be better this year!

If your defense doesn't give up plays it doesn't always mean a great defense. More likely it means your offense sucks.

True, remember the Kyle Wright days? Glad that offense is gone.

Those were dark days.
Not surprising that our dark period coincided with the rising swell of recruiting sites like rivals and scout.
Personally, I think that was our major problem, and Coker's downfall.
We recruited by star ranking.
Golden seems to know that 5star talent and 1 star heart and work ethic equals Aldarius Johnson, Kyle Wright, Ryan Moore, Lance Leggett whom scout called the next Randy Moss, Charlie Jones, Tyler McMeans, or my all time favorite, Reggie Youngblood, also known as "who?" As he made that much of a splash.

I think i'm not the only one that have noticed that the safety position is the biggest weakness on the team by far... my criticism of R. Jenkins is mostly out of disappointment b/c i was a big fan of how well he stepped up late last season and i havent seen any signs of improvement from that point to now. I still think he's going to be good here but I was just hoping someone would step up in the absence of Deon Bush back there during Fall Camp and no one has seen it.

The Depth Chart has to be set regardless of how good or bad the personnel at safety have performed so all that could mean is the least worse player on that unit is getting the job.... maybe Rayshawn Jenkins should start b/c he can be more of a playmaker in actual games so we'll see.

Not tryin' to down Gunter again, but dude got smack dab ran the fvck over on that play. You might wanna watch it again.

The First play Ladarius Gunter made a good tackle on Duke Johnson at the 2:10 mark then at the 2:30 They both dropped their shoulder and u might be right but Gunter wasnt scared to make the hit though and he did force him out of bounds.

How do either of you know that it was Gunter? I guessed that it was Nate Dortch.

You know what you are probably right b/c it was the 2nd half....

and Ladarius Gunter is one of the hardest hitting DBs on the team next to Deon Bush and Jamal Carter so I know he would have had no problems running Crawford over if that was him. I'm know changing my opinion and saying that was Dortch.

TEMPLE IS IN THE MAC
WE IN THE ACC
DIFFERENCE IN COMP LEVEL
SO WHATEVER GOLDEN DID UP THERE
CANNOT BE TRULY COMPARED TO HERE

Actually it can Golden brought the temple owls to their first winning season in like 30 years and had players drafted in the top end of the draft.

Yes, his level of competition was lower but so was the talent level that Golden had on his team at the time to compete against that lower level of talent.

He had players drafted? Did the other teams have players drafted? If they didn't that would mean that Golden actually had more talent wouldn't it? You'd a think he would have had a couple mac championships to show for it.
