I mean... if you wanna use that logic...It was a rivalry in 2022 also and that didn't stop us from getting curb stomped.
Bad teams are bad teams. Just cuz it's a rivalry doesn't mean Peter Warrick and Charlie Ward are walking through that door.
Any other 1-6 team comes in here and we play like that, you wouldn't be singing that tune.
This was an opportunity to make a statement, especially with the amount of talent we had visiting. Instead we ended up putting our own crowd to sleep and barely covered against a squad trotting out their 3rd string QB
The fact that you wrote this nonsense is all I need to know . Every 1-7 team isn't identical, let's examine FSU and their losses this season.

No, I didn't just list a bunch of random numbers, those are the margins FSU has lost by this season. Notice a trend? Outside of Miami and SMU, they have lost by under twenty, and in multiple cases(almost half of their losses), lost by a single score. Only two teams have beaten them by three or more scores, Miami and SMU. SMUs lopsided win was helped by a +3 TO advantage, including a Pick 6. FSU didn't turn it over against Miami, they rarely put the ball in a situation for that to be an issue.
Guess what? Additional possessions help offenses, if you haven't heard. Despite Miami not getting a TO, much less three, the 'Canes were a garbage time TD away from being FSU's worst loss of the season. That's with all of us admitting that the O wasn't nearly as efficient as it has been all season. There was meat left on the bone, some of that was due to FSU's defensive scheme that dared Miami to take unnecessary risks(Which Cam didn't, a sign of his maturity and patience) and Miami's offense having a mediocre(By their standards) game.
We all wanted 60-3, but for those games to happen, certain things have to occur. You usually need some turnovers, the other team tends to quit(Which was unlikely, especially in a rivalry game) and everything has to operate at peak efficiency for a significant period. FSU is bad, but they aren't FAMU or Ball State, where you can easily outathlete them for scores, you have to at least execute.
Miami's O wasn't nearly as efficient as it has been throughout the season. Had they been, this would have EASILY been a 49-14 game, because they were moving the ball up and down the field, until they hit the redzone. That's why Cam was frustrated, because FSU did a decent job of bending but not breaking, the issue was that Miami couldn't get the turnovers needed to break the game open and honestly, Cam wasn't sharp. If you were to ask him, he'd say "I missed a ton of throws tonight, and that's on me".
